The candidate will be responsible for managing the design of a variety of project assignments with a focus on Client relations and the design on Illinois highway and transportation related structures –manage projects and team from conception to construction – mentor, train and develop less experienced staff - support and oversee the preparation of construction documents.

Qualifications:

Strong leadership skills and project management experience to lead a department
Strong technical background in the design of transportation related structural designs such as railroad and highway structures
The ability to analyze design, plan and manage installations
Demonstrate the ability to work with a multi- functional team and be a results oriented leader
Illinois SE License Required
A minimum of 15 years of design experience in an engineering/architectural environment
M.S. in Structural preferred

The Structural Engineer II will complete field inspections, reporting, documentation, structure design and analysis, design calculations, construction engineering support for contractors, and various structural support for our Power, Gas and Aviation groups. Responsibilities and Duties * Review requests for engineering services to determine that adequate information is provided to complete service * Review building/bridge structures and foundations for existing and proposed uses * Work with existing processes to correctly open analysis projects * Perform analyses on projects of all levels of complexity using hand calculations, structural analysis software, and other accepted methods * Work with Designer staff on the development of modification drawings * Design modification for tower reinforcing, extensions and foundations * Review Quality Assurance (QA) and final review on structural analysis reports * Generate required engineering reports * Answer structure-related inquiries from internal and external customers * Keep abreast of new technical methods and development related to tower engineering * Complete specialized engineering assignments requiring complex calculations * Provide assistance on unusual problems * Ensure accurate project status reporting to facilitate accurate customer and sales reporting Required Skills and Abilities * Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering * 3-8 years of experience in Structural Design * Requires domestic travel to job sites up to 25% of total duty time * Willingness to obtain PE & SE; current licenses preferred * Must be able to adapt to quick project turnarounds and various types of engineering * Minimum of 1 year of experience with the following: * Structural engineering drafting experience * Drafting with AutoCAD, MicroStation and Revit * Inspecting, and performing structural analysis on existing buildings and bridges * Design experience of the type required for renovations, or repairs to steel and concrete buildings, which must include work on mixed-use, residential buildings, mid-rise buildings and airport terminal buildings * Structural analysis, and drafting software RISA-3D, STAAD, Tedds, D-CALC, L-Pile, Geopak, LEAP, ETABS and MathCAD * Design experience on Illinois Tollway and Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) bridges including superstructure and foundations, IDOT sound abatement walls and deep foundation systems (piles, or caissons) * Using the IDOT design guide and IDOT and Tollway drafting standards Milhouse Engineering & Construction, Inc. was founded in 2001 with the goal of building the best engineering company in the country.
