Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Can perform all operator duties.

  • Able to setup and maintain all downstream equipment.

  • Works with technicians on complex processing issues.

  • Implements modifications and improvements, works with department manager and/or corporate engineering on scheduling new projects, and makes recommendations for process

  • Maintains preventive maintenance program and insures that these are performed as scheduled

  • Reviews and analyzes daily production performance to ensure that the department is meeting efficiency goals.

  • Works with SBM staff to accomplish activities in an efficient and safe manner by aiding with daily processing issues and provides training opportunities to the technicians.

  • Works with Maintenance and Tooling Managers to ensure that adequate parts are maintained.

  • Assist Department ISO leader with ISO implementation, as needed.

  • Responsible for maintaining the Food Safety Program (GMP)

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Can perform all operator duties

  • Demonstrates high level knowledge of all machines within the SBM department and supporting equipment.

  • Is able to troubleshoot and recommend procedures to improve production efficiencies and/or produce a higher quality product.

  • Can set-up and maintain all downstream equipment

  • Understands and demonstrates proper safety procedures (LOTO, safety block usage, proper propane torch usage, the opening of safety latch door for 2nd safety, etc.)

  • 7 or more years experience with SBM equipment

  • AS Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

PPE Required

  • Requirements are proper hearing protection, safety glasses (prescription if required), steel-toed shoes, hairnet, beardnet (if employee has chin hair greater than 1/8 inch

Authorities

  • Perform essential functions and assigned duties while communicating any deviations from the requirements to management

  • Report any safety concerns to management and to shut down any equipment that presents a safety hazard

  • Make any necessary adjustments to produce a quality product and to stop production if there is a threat of nonconforming product being produced

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

  • Manual Dexterity -- The ability to quickly move hand, hand together with arm, or two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting and basic mechanical repairs.
  • Forklift certification
  • The ability to operate a forklift in a safe manner consistent with OSHA standards
  • Information Ordering -- The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).

  • Near Vision -- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

  • Extent Flexibility -- The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.

  • Wrist-Finger Speed -- The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.

  • Multilimb Coordination -- The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.

  • Lifting Requirements -- Ability to lift 30 pounds over head to total height of six feet.

  • Walking/Standing---Requirements ability to walk and or stand for 12 hours per day.

Position Hours

  • Assigned by manager

  • Flexibility for occasional overtime and call-in work required

Organization Relationships

  • Report directly to SBM-RHB Manager

  • Interacts with Shift Supervisors and Production Manager for scheduling purposes.
