Job Title: Lead Stationary Engineer
EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for a Lead Stationary Engineer in Ft. Belvoir, VA
The Building Engineer monitors all the major mechanical systems of the hospital through the use of various monitoring systems. The Building Engineer is responsible to respond during fire alarm situations and assists the Fort Belvoir Fire Department. This is a position that requires clear and effective communication skills plus the operational understanding of numerous mechanical systems to include but not limited to building HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. Previous experience in a hospital environment is a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Represents EMCOR for all hospital facility emergencies until relieved by EMCOR Management personnel. Contacts EMCOR management with status of all facility emergencies or unusual events (examples: fire alarms, critical equipment shutdowns and electric power outages). Coordinates emergency interactions with designated FBCH Facilities Management Department representative. Maintain alert and responsive at all times.
Monitors the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital and Central Utility Plant mechanical systems. This includes an active search of system information and functionality. Clearly record all unusual events and pertinent information in the shift log book. A complete understanding of the repercussions of inoperable critical equipment is prudent. Ensure the Building Engineer staff is trained and fully competent on the use and functionality of the BMS.
Assist site Project Manager with development and maintaining of the Building Engineer training program for all operating programs.
Provide one-on-one training of all Building Engineers by providing direct oversight of all operating systems, Standard Operating Procedures and protocols.
Communicates with all site technicians and subcontractors to investigate and repair issues with the facility equipment. Reviews daily rounds sheets for the equipment operational status and distributes a daily Equipment Operational Status log.
Monitors the Swiss Log pneumatic tube system that transports material throughout the hospital and communicates with technicians to investigate and correct all performance issues.
Monitors the Automated Lighting Systems and makes corrections as required.
Monitors the Power Monitoring System (PMS) to ensure that all electrical systems are operational.
Monitors the Fire Alarm Panel and communicates accordingly to the Ft Belvoir Fire Department, Facility Management and site technicians during fire alarms and drills.
Monitors the temperatures of the medical refrigerators in the hospital to ensure the temperatures are within the established standards and communicates with applicable personnel to investigate and correct any operational issues.
Become familiar with the established Preventative Maintenance (PM) procedures and participate in the PM program.
Maintains an effective daily log book of all shift activities. All entries are to be clear, concise and accurate. Train and monitor other Building Engineers to ensure consistency. Ensures work requests are submitted for any equipment or system deficiencies noted during each shift.
Communicates with the Stationary Engineers in the Central Utilities Plant (CUP) to ensure that all hospital support mechanical systems are operational.
Files all daily mechanical room rounds sheets and subcontractor work tickets for review by the Project Manager.
Read, understand, and sign off on weekly Tool Box safety literature. Ensure completion of all regulatory compliance training for the entire Building Engineer Staff.
Obtain OSHA 10 General Industry Safety and Health certification.
Ability to work extended hours or weekend overtime as needed.

Must have a current Maryland 1st Class or a Washington DC 3rd Class Stationary Engineer License.
Must have a current Universal CFC License.
Must complete a OSHA 10 General Safety and Health training class (supplied by EMCOR).
Unless a higher degree is specified in this job posting, all positions require a minimum high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
