POSITION SUMMARY:

Lead SQA Engineer is responsible for hands on management of SQA engineers and their deliverables. Lead SQA Engineer ensures strategic planning, development, and implementation of SQA processes and efficient scaling of the team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide hands on leadership to Software QA engineers and play an integral role in complete end to end verification of Natera software systems and components.

  • Plan, execute, and manage complex integration-level system tests with multiple dependencies.

  • Encourage skill and career growth development within the SQA team in parallel with ongoing mentorship and support.

  • Provide continuous risk assessment and timely escalation of software quality concerns, be an advocate for process improvements, as well as individual contributor.

  • Work closely with product owners and developers to meet SQA commitments and align delivery priorities with business objectives.

  • Participate in, building, and maintaining data-driven test automation tools and frameworks using clean coding practices and functional programming methodologies.

  • Perform debugging and root cause analysis of product issues or defects.

  • Evangelize new testing methodologies, best practices and tools with goals to continuously improve test coverage through both manual and automated processes.

  • Establish tight collaboration and feedback loops between various teams to improve the release process and maximize resource utilization in a fast paced environment.

  • Directly supervise and mentor SQA engineers

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience testing both front-end and server-side functionality of complex n-tier systems

  • 2+ years of experience developing automation frameworks and harnesses using programming and scripting languages.

  • Previous experience with hands on management of SQA deliverables as well as supervising SQA engineers is desired.

  • BS degree in Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent work experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Solid knowledge of QA methodologies, test planning, system dependencies, and product integration phases

  • Extensive working knowledge of relational databases, strong SQL skills.

  • Recent hands-on experience with front-end test automation tools and libraries such as Selenium,, TestNG, Junit, ScalaTest, Gatling and others.

  • Familiarity with scripting and programming languages, such as Java, Groovy, Python, Scala, Ruby, Perl, etc

  • Strong knowledge of Linux and command line shell scripting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Duties are typically performed in an office setting.

  • This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone and read printed material.

  • Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends) at times.

What you're good at We are looking for a highly experienced Automation QA Tester with Test Project Management and QA Lead experience. This role requires the individual to write automation code in Java Selenium with experience with Maven, Testing in a Bamboo CI/CD environment. Responsibilities include the following: * Implement test practices, standards and processes, troubleshoot test issues, record test results, track and prioritize defects, participate in product readiness and release decisions. * Make sure the automation is constantly running and being analyzed, reporting on failure promptly. * Experience creating and extending custom test automation frameworks is a must. * Be effective in participating at program, project and product related levels. * Participate in technical governance and help negotiate overall product quality standards with development and business teams. * Define and execute both the project and release level Test Strategies, Test Plans and Test Cases/Scripts which span across multiple, internal QA Product Teams. * Coordinate test execution with external vendors, as applicable, according to Retail Web Trading standards. * Work with the Manager to research, investigate, implement and train other QA Testing Resources in the areas of Agile Testing Practices, Test Driven Development, Testing Automation and managing Testing Metrics for publication to Upper Management. * Accountable for project/product based testing efforts across multiple applications (including End to End Test efforts). * Act as the escalation point for all testing related issues, provide the QA perspective, status reporting and escalate issues to responsible stakeholders, as well as insure standard, and consistent, QA processes are followed. * Work with assigned Product Teams, Product Owners and Scrum Masters to compose and manage integrated project plans, testing schedules, metrics and provide project and release status updates to all levels of management. * Coordinate with team members for testing activities, participating in Requirements Ambiguity, & Use Case / User Story Reviews, and conduct QA analysis & test support activities. * Work cross-organizationally both within Schwab and with external vendors, both on and offshore to define environment requirements, identify QA-related tools, develop and execute QA process and testing best practices.
