Lead Software Engineer

About the role:

We are looking for a Lead Full Stack JavaScript/TypeScript Software Engineer to produce scalable software solutions within the Workplace engineering team. You will act as the tech lead within a cross-functional team that is responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you should be comfortable around both front-end and back-end coding languages, development frameworks, third-party libraries, and cloud native development principles. You should have solid software engineering experience in building commercial-grade web-based applications and scalable cloud-centric APIs. A successful candidate will be able to play an active role in managing the prioritization of work to meet project goals. The position is based in our Chicago office.

Job responsibilities:

• Work with development teams and product managers to build software

• Be the primary technical partner for the product team supporting the product owner

• Lead and guide engineers in the design, implementation and delivery of product features and functionality

• Interpret and advocate for technology OKRs

• Design & develop client-side and server-side architecture

• Build the front-end of applications using JavaScript/TypeScript libraries and frameworks

• Write scalable APIs using TypeScript and AWS Cloud based services

• Develop software with the focus on security, availability, and scalability

• Write technical documentation

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a full-stack developer or similar role

• 7+ years' experience in any client-side JavaScript frameworks and libraries (such as Angular, VueJS, React). Experience with frameworks such as Next/Nuxt would be a plus.

• 7+ years' experience in back-end development using any JavaScript/TypeScript based frameworks (Apollo server, express, Koa, etc.)

• Familiarity with database technologies - Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc.

• Familiarity with DevOps principles and best practices

• Experience in AWS (Amazon Web Services) based environment building serverless applications is a plus

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Great attention to detail and organizational skills

• Experience building or maintaining applications using .NET/C# or Java is a plus

• Experience leveraging container-based technology (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
