The Boeing Company is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join the Flight Simulation I Labs (FSL)team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
The F/A-18 TOFT & Maintenance Trainers team needs a senior technical focal to serve as a lead engineer, software architect, and subject matter expert (SME) for the F/A-18 and E/A-18G Maintenance Trainer devices delivered to multiple USN and FMS customers. This leader will also serve as a SME for simulated displays software integration, driving commonality across multiple F/A-18 devices.
Position Responsibilities:
Serve as primary Flight Sim POC with internal (BGS) counterparts and customers, as well as USN customers for all Maintenance Trainer projects
Act as FSL SME and provide technical leadership of Maintenance Trainer software development, integration and delivery to customer sites
Act as FSL SME for simulated F/A-18 displays architecture, software design, development and integration for current and future capabilities
Develop and own the execution of the team's technical statements of work supporting multiple internal and external customers
Serve as advisor and spokesperson to program customers. Establish and maintain frequent and open communication with all stakeholders
Lead activities to develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for simulated displays and related systems, including the Large Area Display (LAD) and the Digital Video Map Computer - Upgrade (DVMC-U)
Provide direct support to junior team members to develop solutions to a wide range of complex problems affecting current and future simulation and training platforms
As needed, provide insight to management about development and support status
Provide positive mentoring to high performing team members, including task assignments for complex trainer software and displays simulations
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance Post-Start.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Requires ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
10+ years' experience in software development, integration, and testing experience
5+ years' experience in flight simulator integration of software.
Experience in a role that required creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, strong collaborative stills, strong written and verbal communication
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Current Secret U.S. Security Clearance Preferred
Strong Expertise in Aircraft Avionics/Displays Systems
Simulation or System Integration Experience
Experience mentoring engineers
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Travel:
Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.
Relocation:
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Summary pay range $151,300.00 - $204,700.00
