SOME (So Others Might Eat) is seeking a full-time Lead Service Technician for the Facilities Management department.
Position Description: The Lead Service Technician is responsible for maintaining the physical condition and operations of SOME facilities. The Lead Service Technician will respond to work orders and provide daily maintenance and repair to include electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or carpentry.
Required: 3-5 years of facilities management experience; Experience in multi-housing or residential facilities
Required License/Certification: Must possess and maintain a vehicle and valid driver's license, as well as a personal car and liability insurance coverage, at a minimum. This is a contingency of employment. The vehicle should be safe and reliable. (Mileage will be reimbursed)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:30AM -6:00PM or 10:00AM-7:30PM (40 hours per week)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Understanding of electrical issues, preventative maintenance, fire systems, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance and repair
Knowledge of landscaping and painting
Time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Professional communication skills to communicate verbally
Ability to take initiative
Ability to use common power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment
Basic computer skills to complete invoicing, respond to emails and complete work order documentation
Customer service skills
Organizational skills with an attention to detail
Knowledge of safety practices related to maintenance activities and corresponding equipment and chemicals
Problem solving and decision making skills
Ability to troubleshoot and understand plumbing issues, preventative maintenance, and general maintenance & repair
Environmental Working Conditions: This position works in office, residential, and outdoor environments. Required to work in hot and cold outdoor environments. May be exposed to dust, odors, and noise. The working environment may or may not include individual heating and air conditioning controls and may or may not include a window.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. This position may be active and requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders. Work may be performed outside on facility grounds in heat or cold. Travel to work sites using own transportation methods. Utilize own tools for work projects, and transport tools to work site.
Expected Contributions: Maintenance
Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic repairs to building systems and equipment
Ensure that building systems are being operated safety, efficiently, and as intended.
Completes and documents all service and maintenance request in a timely manner per policy/standard
Ensure vacant units are prepared for move-in
Answer mobile phone in off hours and respond to 24-hour emergency calls as part of the on-call rotation list
Purchase and maintain inventory for cost effective operations
Complete service requests in a timely manner
Ensure that all safety standards are maintained
Coordinate and monitor contractor work at assigned buildings
Communicate work status updates to Facilities Management and Property Management
Complete landscaping and grounds work, as needed
Provide support and guidance with carpentry, painting, plumbing, and some electrical work while meeting DCRA and other regulatory and supervisor inspection requirements.
