About this Position
The Community MT Division helps communities plan for and implement high impact community and economic development projects. The Lead Service Lines (LSL) Technical Assistance Team provides outreach and technical assistance to Montana drinking water systems to inventory service lines as mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).This inventory will identify and record Lead Service Lines (LSL) one of the remaining major sources of lead in Montana's drinking water.
The LSL Program Specialist 1 is responsible for outreach and technical assistance to help Montana communities to complete LSL inventories and submit to EPA or DEQ by October 15, 2024. This inventory will document the presence of lead drinking water service lines and assist public water systems with LSL replacement plans and identification of funding to remove remaining lead lines and other eligible LSL related projects .
This individual will need a working knowledge of water systems and infrastructure projects and experience coordinating with multiple state and federal agencies. The successful applicant will assist with developing LSL outreach programming materials and travel to communities across the state, developing new and innovative ways to communicate with and assist public water systems.
Experience working with Service Now and managing state or federal funding projects is preferred. This applicant will work with a new program where feedback, critical thinking skills and teamwork is required. Providing excellent customer service is a top priority.
This is a temporary, contracted position at least until the end of 2025 or until funding ends.
This position is posted until filled with first review date of 4.15.24
What are we looking for?
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning, Humanities or another related area
2 years of related, relevant experience
Experience working on community water projects
Program development and implementation
Interagency collaboration
Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Competencies:
Knowledge of:
Customer service
Communication and conflict resolution techniques
Flexibility to adapt to evolving program processes and procedures
Excel or other database and customer management systems. Experience with Service Now preferred
Ability to:
Assess program and client needs
Be detail-oriented
Organize multiple, competing projects and maintain timelines and deadlines
Identify improvements to programs and services
Review and monitor program compliance
Prepare outreach materials and program reports
