As a Lead Senior Architect you will be responsible for:
Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with Architects, Security Researchers, and Software Engineers to improve the safety, security, and resilience of Akamai systems.
Team development and management: setting goals, mentoring, advocating, and being a single point of understanding for team activities
Reviewing new technologies and products for compliance implications with internal and external security requirements
Guiding the product and platform engineering teams to meet new security requirements and explaining Akamai's control environment comprehensively to external assessors
Providing expert advice during security incidents, and communicating technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences clearly in speech and prose
About the Team
Security Assurance within the Information Security organization seeks to demonstrate to Akamai customers, and interested parties, Akamai's security posture. Security Assurance works with internal and external stakeholders to undertake security compliance programs associated with external security standards. The staff works with external auditors, consultants and standards bodies to communicate Akamai's processes and procedures related to the secure operation of its network and products. Within Information Security, the Security Assurance team works with other security professionals to improve Akamai's overall security posture and that of our customers.
Required Education and Experience
Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and persuasively verbally and in writing to technical and business audiences
Ability to facilitate conversations and understanding among team members who may have different ideas about solving problems
Excellent technical aptitude and a desire to learn constantly
A drive to improve the culture and tone of discourse in difficult and complex problem solving
Some knowledge of systems thinking and systems analysis techniques such as Systems-Theoretic Accident Modeling and Processes (STAMP)
Experience with security standards and frameworks including one or more of the following: PCI, ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST/DoD frameworks
Familiarity with security technologies, processes, and concepts such as symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, TLS, Authentication and Authorization, vulnerability investigation
Experience in at least two programming languages, including a scripting language, and a functional language. Exposure to a wide range of language types (e.g., scripting, Unix-like, procedural, functional, high-level) is especially helpful.
Solid understanding of and interest in internet technologies and fundamental protocols such as HTTP, TCP/IP, and DNS
