Leads assigned members of the respiratory therapy services team in performing activities or tasks in respiratory therapy services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.Registered Respiratory Therapist through the National Board for Respiratory Care.

2.Licensed by West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist - Registered (LRTR), or applicable state where services will be performed.

3.Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

4.ACLS, PALS, and NRP may be required within 30 days of hire based on local hospital requirements. Please reference the list below for local hospital requirements:

  • CCMC: ACLS if working in Cardiac Pulmonary Rehab

EXPERIENCE:

1.Three (3) years of respiratory experience in a hospital setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

1.One (1) year prior leadership experience.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.

1.Interacts with staff to ensure efficient workflow through effective distribution of workload with respiratory care staff under the direction of the Manager or Director of Respiratory Therapy.

2.Facilitates and oversees the quality control activities of all pertinent diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.

3.Performs basic and advanced therapeutic procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients by order of the physician.

4.Assembles, checks, and corrects malfunctions and performs quality controls on Respiratory Care equipment.

5.Initiates, maintains, and discontinues mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.

6.Communicates appropriately and effectively with other members of the healthcare team regarding all aspects of patient care.

7.Provides assistance with patient and family/caregiver education along with other members of the healthcare team.

8.Actively participates in departmental quality assurance and hospital-wide organizational performance improvement activities.

9.Performs basic and advanced diagnostic procedures for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients by order of the Physician
