The Business Technology Innovation team at Salesforce is looking for a design researcher who has an endless curiosity about why people do what they do, a passion for inventive problem solving, and is excited about working with our internal business executives and leaders to convey what is really meaningful to their internal and external customers. Our design researchers scope, plan, execute and analyze all aspects of research programs across all of our business organizations within Salesforcebringing unique perspectives to solving our biggest and most important business challenges that impact our end-customer experience.

About Business Technology Innovation

Business Technology Innovation is an internal-facing, entrepreneurial innovation team within Salesforce. We help our own internal businesses, like Marketing and Sales, recognize and interpret forces of change in their business landscape and partner with them to plot a course towards a more robust, digital future, through human-centered design. And we help build and deliver that future by using our own world-class technology to set our business on a path of growth and change.

Our engagements combine elements of strategic advisory, visioning, user research, ideation, storytelling, value propositions, workshop facilitation, rapid prototyping, end-user concept testing, and product design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams with varying levels of creative and analytical expertise

  • Manage complex project or multiple projects, including delegation and direction of team leads

  • Confidently communicate a provocative point of view to CEOs, CIOs, CMOs and CXOs both written and verbally

  • Comfortably facilitate research immersion sessions and innovation workshops with seniors leaders and cross-functional teams internally and externallyimprovising and rethinking activities when necessary

  • Gather, prioritize and shape key questions from designers, business strategists, sales executives, solution engineers, business analysts and our customers' senior executives into research objectives

  • Plan and conduct practical and impactful research that varies in approach, scope, and timeframe

  • Analyze and synthesize research findings into a reframed business challenge and insights

  • Lead multi-disciplinary internal and customer teams through design thinking exercises

  • Lead critique sessions with internal colleagues and external customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience and/or academic studies in a relevant field (anthropology, cultural studies, psychology, design)

  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in qualitative methods and contextual inquiry

  • Ability to delegate research execution from scoping, planning, conducting, through to analysis

  • Proven track record experimenting with research methods

  • Exceptional storytelling skills including the ability the ability to communicate persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization

  • Ability and willingness to travel 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting qualitative research in both B2C and B2B settings

  • Experience with enterprise software solutions

  • Delighted by digital technology

  • Experience with video editing and storytelling
