Roles & Responsibilities:

Lead (Radiologic) Technologist - Cerebrovascular / Stroke Program

Mount Sinai Brooklyn

The Lead Technologist operates in a lead capacity and assists in the oversight of operation of radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Responsible for patient treatment in preparing the patient for radiological procedures and adhering to safety measures to ensure compliance with regulations and the safety of patients and staff. Responsible for conducting all daily quality control checks on the imaging and film developing equipment, and maintaining documentation of same. Works closely with the physicians and the Siemens service technician to maintain and improve image quality. Checks all lead garments twice a year and maintains documentation of such. Also compiles monthly statistics.

Duties and Responsibilities not limited to:

  • establishing and maintaining employee schedules

  • Inventory maintenance pertaining to Cerebro Vascular supplies

  • Ensure radiologic equipment is in proper working order including coordination of preventative maintenance with vendor

  • Establish and maintain QA metrics

  • Supervise Radiologic Technologists to ensure efficient work flow

  • Monitor and correct QA issues

  • Evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability

  • Identifies patient service requirements with patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements. Providing explanations of treatment

  • Prepares patient for radiological procedure.

  • Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors. Adheres to established infection control policies and procedures.

  • Maintains production and quality of radiographs.

  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records (including the completion and verification of exams.

  • Functions in a Lead role and mentors/assists in supervision of less experienced x-ray technical staff.

  • Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

  • Maintains radiology supplies inventory, determine inventory level and anticipating needed supplies.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by maintaining regulatory CME requirements.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Performs other duties as required

Requirements:
2-5 years' experience in performing Cerebral vascular procedures Required

ARRT Vascular Certification required

Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology

NY State License in Radiologic Technology, BLS certification

Good standing in ASRT, Experience in digital & computed radiography

Roles & Responsibilities: Perform radiologic examinations on patients referred by physicians in accordance with radiologic protocols. Must be competent routine diagnostic, operating room, and portables, other procedures as assigned. Must be able to evaluate radiographs for technical acceptability. Must be comfortable working in an Emergency Department setting. Other duties as assigned. Complete Patient Satisfaction is our Primary Goal. Provides information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs. * Verifies patient identification as to departmental policy. Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements. * Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques. * Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; * Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors. * Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records (including the completion and verification of exams.) * Assumes on-call duties REQUIREMENTS: * Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology * Experience: 2-5 Neuro Endovascular Experience Preferred, experience with special procedure preferred * Licenses: Radiologic Technologist, AART certification Strength Through Diversity The Mount Sinai Health System believes that diversity is a driver for excellence.
