The Lead Quantitative Analyst of Collection and Recovery Strategies will lead the analytical efforts related, but not limited to, post charge-off (Recovery) collections. This role is designed for an individual contributor to demonstrate advanced data skills, as well as, an opportunity to potentially develop management skills by leading the efforts of a more junior analyst. The role offers direct exposure to business stakeholders and analytics leaders with an opportunity to enhance presentation and communication skills. This individual should have the proficiency in analytics tools (ie SAS, SQL, Python, etc) to support strategy development, improve reporting capabilities and drive collection optimization. An ideal candidate has experience in data gathering and manipulation to compile an analysis and recommendation to drive strategic priorities. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to work independently and conclude valuable business insights with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize analytics tools (ie SAS, SQL, Python, etc) to gather and evaluate data to complete robust and thoughtful solutions to business problems and opportunities

  • Analytical and data support driving recommendations to modify or create new collection strategies

  • Develop tests and pilots to drive strategic agenda and ensure results are measurable and statistically comprehensive

  • Maintain and enhance reporting to ensure business opportunities are evaluated and sustained through key performance indicators

Core Qualifications:

  • Degree required. Related degree (economics, statistics, mathematics, finance, engineering, etc.) strongly preferred

  • At least three years of experience using SQL and SAS in support of quantitative analytics required

  • Financial services experience required

  • Previous recovery or collections strategy analytics experience strongly preferred

This includes the preparation of the annual margin budget and five-year forecast, monthly variance analysis, weather normalization and regulatory filings. In February of 2019 CenterPoint Energy completed an acquisition which added nearly 7,000 employees. Now you'll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team to support our $27 billion-dollar company which has a footprint in 40 states. Specifically, you'll have the opportunity to: * Provide guidance and direction to senior management regarding expectations for margin performance over various time horizons, spanning from one month to twenty years, as well as providing explanations of historical performance. The position will be key to internal derivation of estimates of operating income and ultimately fundamental to relations with external stakeholders. Creating an environment of serving internal customer needs, continuous improvement, and meeting targets will be critical. * Work with all stake holders and subject matter experts to prepare Vectren's annual margin budget, requiring knowledge of small customer usage patterns, tariff rates and rate recovery mechanisms, and customer count trends. Coordinate with marketing, the regulatory accounting, utility accounting, and others to extend the annual budget to a five year margin forecast. Coordinate with customer energy solutions department to model 10yr forecast assumptions. * Coordinate with Utility Accounting to understand and make improvements to calculation of actual margin and margin variances for each of four legal entities. Utilize Price-Volume Analysis (PVA) decomposition of actual margin variances into the drivers or causes of variances. Partner with Marketing to understand the implications of conservation programs, economics regarding usage and customer count, and weather impacts. Coordinate with marketing to arrive at customer forecasts for Res & GS customers, such that customer count and usage changes may be priced to arrive at accurate margin estimates. Prepare schedules for the monthly Margin meeting (Customer Additions, Margin Variance Summary, Risk, and AUPC) and be able to explain variances and projection adjustments. Ad-hoc analysis as required to address senior management questions and concerns regarding margins yr/yr or versus the budget, and 5yr forecast. Oversee DSM Opt-Out customer identification by opt-out period and reporting as required for rates and conservation filings * Leverage PVA methodology to project year-end margin variances by driver/causation factor. Strive for continuous improvement in methodology of calculating, reporting, and analyzing margin variances to better meet the needs of senior management. * Calculate, summarize, and explain all test year related revenue adjustments or proformas related to customer volumes. Support testimony for assigned proformas. Ensure the regulatory models accurately reflect the proforma adjustments as calculated. Provide accurate and timely information related to data requests. Coordinate load research and weather-normalization by leveraging advanced metering technologies. Partner with internal/external stakeholders to implement CIS/Technology upgrades.
