Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst Raleigh, NC

What makes you successful in this role?

As a Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst, you will own and be accountable for software release test strategy, test planning and test execution. As the senior-most QA member of a team, you will participate in product design reviews and backlog refinement, while providing input on testability of functional requirements and product designs. You will also have the opportunity to drive the adoption of QA best practices in testing and have a direct impact on the quality of our product deliverables.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining test strategies together with product management for each project or release.
  • Create test plans for software projects; author test cases / scripts as needed.
  • Work with product and QA team to execute required manual and automated testing for software releases.
  • Manage risk for software releases in alignment with business objectives.
  • Define strategy for physical and virtual test environments; procure, configure, replicate and maintain environments for QA and UAT needs.
  • Communicate critical information with product management, development, tech support and other team members.
  • Anticipate problems and provide recommendations for solutions; to include business trade-offs.
  • Manage triage and escalation of customer reported issues.
  • Provide ongoing status and risk assessment throughout test / release readiness cycles.
  • Assist in the development of the long-term strategy for overall quality, test, and general QA best practices to best align with company-level goals.
  • Mentor less experience QA analysts on the team.
  • Introduce and implement QA best practices across teams.

Requirements

What would we like for you to have?

Required:

  • 8-15 years of solid software QA experience, specifically working with on-premise installed software solutions.
  • Knowledge of current QA best practices, ability to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements.
  • Familiarity with test automation for on-premise software products, particularly in implementing or expanding automated test strategy.
  • Experience with APIs and API test strategy.
  • Experience with workflow / business process-based testing strategies.
  • Experience with Agile / Scrum / Kanban methodologies.
  • Ability to lead, influence and mentor teammates and colleagues within and across departments.
  • Ability to self-project manage and prioritize tasks in alignment with business goals.
  • Ability to listen to customers; understand and develop empathy for the challenges they face; advocate for customer experience.
  • Inquisitive, analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude; Self-motivated, self-starter see a problem, solve a problem; Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, fluid startup-like environment.
  • Willing and able to travel on occasion.

Preferred:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent amount of relevant technical work experience.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and/or Jira.
  • Experience with practice management and / or basic accounting concepts is a plus.
  • Prior legal / law office or similar professional office experience is a plus.
