Responsibilities of the Lead Pump Mechanic include, but are not limited to:
Receive, disassemble, inspect, repair, paint, package/prepare for shipment API centrifugal pumps as well as other related rotating equipment e. g. centrifugal pumps, gearboxes, and blowers
Assist with training and developing Pump Mechanic personnel to ensure efficient use of manpower and compliance with customer requirements
Monitor progress of repairs and assign and guide shop personnel to complete those repairs
Interact with customers in a positive way showing them how DXP cares about their business
Assist the Supervisor in the execution of all work
Ability to read pump sectional and machine drawings. Read and comprehend OEM pump manuals
Disassembly, inspection, ability to write up a detailed rotating equipment report to all necessary repairs and or replacement parts needed. Ex: assembly prep, assembly, pneumatic pressure testing of assembled equipment, painting of finished repair and final inspection
Fabricate piping and tubing as needed
Safely use hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools
Qualifications of the Lead Mechanic include, but are not limited to:
5 years of experience as mechanic
Advanced knowledge of diesel and fuel engine maintenance and repair
Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs independently
Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair
Experience with Pneumatic and Hydrostatic testing of parts and equipment
Experience with Mechanical seals including
Ability to read and understand mechanical seal drawings, mechanical seal removal, installation, and pneumatic pressure testing when necessary preferred
Ability to properly use various types of precision measuring equipment
Experience or knowledge in NDT as in PMI, Dye Pen, and Mag Particle testing
Experience and ability to use safely lifting devices such as cranes, forklifts, and rigging
Additional Information:
Physical Demand: Lift 50 lbs. unassisted / Lift 100 lbs. with assistance
Working Conditions: Shop environment

Shift Time/Overtime: 8 am - 5 pm
Travel: N/A
Education: High School Diploma
