The Lead Project Engineer will be responsible for executing the full Project Life Cycle on a torpedo propulsion system program. Typical duties will include assisting the IPT in planning, scope management, scheduling, budget control and managing the technical execution, with the support of the component engineering teams.

This includes integration of multiple mechanical and electrical systems. Additional duties will include performing technical analysis, establishing system requirements and specifications, planning and conducting test and product verification activities, analyzing test data, developing business relationships, and generating customer presentations. Moreover, this position requires interfacing with the customer as well as supporting work scope at field sites.

Essential Functions:

Working under limited general direction:

  • Lead technical activities to support field sites for test and demonstrations. This includes leading teams on product readiness reviews and performance analysis.

    Implement lessons learned and process improvements. Periodic travel may be required. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

  • Lead or support anomaly investigations and technical studies to closure rapidly and rigorously, applying appropriate resources, procedures, and personnel in a cost-effective manner. Accumulate, prepare and present the reviews required to close an effort, including action closure.

  • Direct and coordinate engineering work; manage technical progress and schedule and cost status as needed. Complete all Earned Value Management (EVM) assigned duties which include monitoring the "estimate at complete" (EAC), schedule analysis reporting, variance analysis, budget change requests, and Risk & Opportunity. Verify Aerojet Rocketdyne's products are in compliance with customer requirements.

  • Support proposal activities efforts as assigned.

  • Active mentoring of less experienced personnel. Cultivate an existing knowledge base and build on it to serve as a resource to Aerojet Rocketdyne and our customers for design, test and implementation of propulsion systems.

Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline and at least 10 years of experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience), preferably in government defense-related naval contracts and advanced propulsion. A Master's degree or higher in an Engineering discipline is preferred.

Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated engineering leadership experience in a production environment developing and improving products and manufacturing processes. Candidates with Earned Value Management and Cost Account Management experience also preferred.

Strong verbal, written, presentation, and team-working skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $147,000 - $273,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
