Position Summary

Bridgestone's corporate engineering team, Process Systems Development (PSD), is currently seeking a Lead Project Engineer to implement large capital projects to join our team in Nashville, TN!

The ideal candidate will be an engineer with expertise in construction management. This expertise will be developed through experience working as a Project Manager or Construction Manager with an Owner, AE, or GC on industrial construction projects. Experience with tire manufacturing or rubber processing is preferred but not required.

In this role, the candidate should identify with PSD guiding principles; be hard-working, committed to excellence, and continuously expand and share their knowledge base. Deliver professional services to individual production plants with positive customer-like interaction and regular follow-up. Create and maintain standards for engineering and construction processes, safety, and services. This position requires domestic and international travel nominally at 50%, with blocks of time at higher and lower percentage.

Responsibilities

In this role, your responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

  • Develop and write specifications and bid documents for engineering and construction services. Collaborate with Corporate and Plant Engineers to ensure construction projects meet project objectives.

  • Develop scopes of work with cross-functional stakeholders, including plant, corporate and external consultants.

  • Collaborate with Procurement and Legal during bid and award phase to ensure selected contractors can meet project objectives on time, on budget, and on schedule.

  • Manage Architecture/Engineering (AE) firms during project design phase. Meet regularly and review progress. Prepare regular status reports. Track and control project spending. Manage Change Order processes.

  • Manage General Contractor (GC) firms during project construction phase. Meet regularly and review progress. Prepare regular status reports. Track and control project spending. Manage Change Order processes.

  • Develop cost estimates and schedules for expansion and construction scopes of work. Provide value engineering recommendations to support cost improvement targets.

  • Act and demonstrate ownership for assigned projects. Be a champion that strives to meet all project KPIs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil). Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or related.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with industrial construction or engineering projects, or 7 years experience with commercial construction projects.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including MS project.

  • Experience with CAD applications.

  • Candidates possessing Preferred Qualifications listed below may be considered if some of Required Qualifications are not met.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour Construction Courses.

  • Experience with AIA Contract Documents.

  • Experience with Design Bid Build, Design Build, and Cost Plus GMP project delivery methods.

  • Experience with Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) practices.

  • Experience as a Facility Engineer in an Industrial plant with experience in energy monitoring, compressed air, climate control, boilers, contact heaters, steam distribution, cooling towers, and hydraulic power units.

  • Experience in structural design, analysis, or construction methods.

  • Experience in medium voltage, low voltage power distribution and design.

  • Experience in Architectural design

  • Experience in industrial construction estimation.

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; or equivalent work experience.
