SUMMARY: Assists the production management personnel in the efficient and safe operation of the plant. Directs and coordinates activities related to the production of company products by performing the following duties.


  • Directs employees on a particular shift or department. Ensures that staffing levels are correct for all operations; ensures that employees are adequately trained to perform their duties; participates in disciplinary investigations conducted by production supervisors or managers.

    Recommends disciplinary actions needed to maintain safe and productive work environment. Participates in hearings to resolve grievances and notifies production management of human resource related issues or concerns.

  • Maintains a safe work environment by ensuring employees are trained in safe operating procedures, inspecting the facility and ensuring that safe work practices are followed by all employees. Reports and investigates all work related incidents to the HR department. Follows the company's IIPP at all times.

  • Maintains a sanitary work environment by ensuring that GMP's are communicated and followed at all times by all production and maintenance employees. Also ensures that tests and records are maintained to document GMP's are followed. Coordinates such activities with Quality Control department staff.

  • Confers with production management personnel to establish production schedules, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications and delivery dates of products ordered. Coordinates with production management personnel to revise production schedules and priorities as a result of fruit supply problems, equipment failure or operating problems.

  • Recommends changes in operating methods and procedures to eliminate production problems and improve product quality. Assists with testing of new equipment, packaging materials and processes.

  • May assist with compiling, storing, and retrieving production data.

Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience with a Class 1 Railroad, Regional Short Line, Transit System, State DOT Rail Division, Railroad Supplier, Railroad Contractor, and/or Railroad Consultant; preferably within the Maintenance Of Way (MOW) Department.
