Your Impact

Handshake is hiring a Lead Product Designer reporting directly to Handshake's head of design on our growing team. This role will require you to span from strategy to surface, bringing a talent for systems thinking, simple data driven design, and seamless user experiences to support Handshake's career services and employer products. Your work will be foundational to the student experience as well, helping universities and employers guide students through their early career discovery, connecting them with mentors, opportunities, and resources they might not otherwise know were available.

Your Role

  • Lead enterprise product design on a small, highly leveraged team.

  • Work from concept to delivery to inform product strategy and shape experience for Handshake's enterprise customers.

  • Partner with product, research, and engineering to ensure projects are well defined, high impact, and successfully executed.

  • Develop and improve a shared product design language across all enterprise surfaces, reflective of our brand and tailored to professionals on our platform.

  • Design data rich professional interfaces with are both powerful and intuitive to use.

  • Up level the entire team through commitment to growth and mentorship.

Your Experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading design on professional products across both web and mobile.

  • Familiarity with human centered/user centered design methodology and techniques.

  • Experience experience working with engineers and product managers to drive strategy, vision, and execution.

  • A collaborative, no ego, approach to working with others.

  • A portfolio of impeccably executed enterprise product design.

  • University degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Centered Design, Sociology, Psychology, Information Science, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

About the role Credible is looking for a creative, inspiring Lead Product Designer to guide the design team in crafting exceptional experiences for hundreds of thousands of users. Reporting to Credible's VP of Product, you will mentor our small but talented design team, play a critical role in delivering important product initiatives, and help us mature our design processes. Key Responsibilities: * Lead critical design projects, sometimes as the sole designer, sometimes guiding the work of other contributing designers * Mentor our product designers, and potentially one marketing designer. Foster their growth through development planning, collaborative work, and real-time design feedback and coaching * Oversee the design team's efforts across multiple product initiatives, partnering with product counterparts to ensure strong execution from concept through launch and beyond * Drive greater visibility of the design team across the organization * Help drive continuous improvement in team performance and design quality * Assist with formulating and managing our product design roadmap, and with project planning and task prioritization * Participate in recruiting and onboarding activities for new designers over time as the business grows Education and Experience: * 6+ years of progressive experience in UI/UX design or product design, with a focus on internet and/or mobile consumer products is required * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX, Web Design, HCI or a related field preferred * At least 1 year of experience mentoring other designers * Advanced knowledge of design tools - Figma, Sketch, Illustrator, Photoshop, Principle, Framer, and any other tools needed to get the job done * An inspiring portfolio that demonstrates experience leading design projects, crafting design systems, working through complex user flows, and shipping products that are functional, intuitive and visually compelling * Experience applying user research methodologies and product data/analytics to inform design decisions * Meaningful experience working closely with product managers and engineers in a collaborative environment Personality and Values: * Passion for creating exceptional user experiences that address real user needs * Strong problem-solving skills with ability to simplify the complex * Thrive on collaboration with other teams to accomplish shared goals * Resourceful and mindful; you move fast but don't break things * Possess a build-measure-learn iterative mindset * Strong communication skills Why you want to work at Credible We are a fast moving, fun-loving, seriously smart group of people who really care about impacting the lives of our customers.
