Description:

Reporting to the Supervisor Patient Access, Preservice, this position performs and provides guidance to Centralized Scheduling staff activities that have significant implications on overall Revenue Cycle performance. This position works quickly and efficiently to provide timely access to clinical services, allow for claims to be proper filed for timely billing, reduce denials and keep patients

apprised of coverage amounts. Professional, accurate and courteous communications will occur with patients/family members/guarantors, and physicians/office staff in the deployment of key activities utilizing multiple modes of communication.

In addition, the Lead performs routine as well as more technically difficult tasks associated with all duties of the preservice scheduler and registrar. This position is responsible for monitoring of key performance indicators across all staff on the shift. The Lead role assists

in orientation process for new employees on the department process and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with the creation of department schedules for staffing including calling off employees, securing coverage for staff absences, and consulting with the manager to ensure appropriate staffing levels based on volumes and department need. The incumbent assists the manager with daily reports as needed, ensuring the department and staff and disaster and downtime ready, championing and implementing workflow process changes and participating in performance improvement opportunities.

1.High school diploma or equivalent is required; Associate Degree from a two (2) year college is preferred.

2.Five (5) years' increasingly responsible experience in health care, physician office, scheduling, patient registration, patient account billing, and/or medical records coding is required.

3.Excellent judgement and critical thinking, as well as strong verbal and written skills are required.

4.Extensive experience with medical terminology, anatomy is required.

5.Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD codes as applied to patient registration/scheduling is required.

6.Strong knowledge of clinical procedures, acuity and application to the population by gender and age is required.

7.Strong knowledge of government payers and commercial insurance plans required.

8.Experience indicating a high degree of public exposure and superb customer service skills is required.

9.Ability to follow and interpret oral and written instructions, institutional documents and policies is required.



  1. Ability to gather, analyze and display data in appropriate format and keep accurate records is required.

  2. Ability to work under minimal general supervision is required.

  3. Intermediate skills with business computer software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel are preferred.

  4. National Association of Health Access Management (NAHAM) certification is preferred.

  5. Bilingual preferred.


Pay Range: $24.64 - $33.26
