We're currently looking for experienced preschool teachers to teach at our brand new Skyview Preschool Village, opening Fall 2024! Positions will begin on July 1, 2024.

Major Responsibilities:
Utilize the Nevada Preschool Content Standards, must create developmentally-appropriate lesson plans that align with High Scope and support the birth to third grade continuum alignment.
Provide Teachers Assistants with the opportunity to have input in the program design.
Prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean, appealing, and encourages children to learn, grow, and thrive.
Prepare materials that coincide with the curriculum.
Follow YMCA Standard Operating Procedures.
Promote safety as an overriding objective in all programming efforts.
Interact with children and encourage their involvement in activities, while guiding and redirecting behavior as appropriate.
Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior.
Record child assessments in Brigance and COR in accordance with the deadlines set forth by the Nevada Department of Education.
Maintain all records and files of individual children.
Establish and maintain positive and effective communication with parents on a daily basis, including through scheduled parent conferences.
Keep Preschool Director informed of developments of children (e.g., successes, challenges, and needs).
Attend monthly trainings provided by Cooperative Extension and required by the YMCA and Child Care Licensing.
Promote a high standard of customer service for all members, program participants, and guests.
Contribute to a positive and inclusive environment, which welcomes and supports children with disabilities as well as families from economically disadvantaged households.
Promote parent involvement and lead family engagement activities.
Ensure that Preschool Teacher license requirements are satisfied and maintained.
Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
B.A. or A.A. degree in early childhood education. Substantial and documented work experience in the childcare industry plus two years related experience and/or training OR CDA (Child Development Associate) and willing and able to work with YMCA and state TEACH program to attain a Bachelors Degree. Previous experience working with special populations (e.g., children with special needs and families with diverse socio-economic backgrounds), as well as prior interaction with QRIS and/or the Department of Education is beneficial. Bi-lingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
TRAININGS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
TB test/ Sheriffs card for Las Vegas prior to employment.
American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid.
The following courses must be completed within 30 days of hire: Blood borne Pathogens, Signs and Symptoms of Illness, Reporting and Recognizing Child Abuse & Neglect, 3 hours of Child Development, 2 hours of Health & Wellness, and apply for Nevada Registry.
Building/physical premises safety, emergency preparation, medication administration, and allergies training required within 30 days of hire.
Working with Children within 30 days of hire date.
Staff are to attend all Preschool trainings and in-services required by Supervisor
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Strong skills in: communication, leadership, judgment, and creativity.
Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.
Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate management techniques.
