The expected annual salary range for this role is $95,247 - $139,695 a year.

Eaton's Electrical Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure Division is currently seeking a Lead Power Electronics Engineer to join our team. This position will be a hybrid role as long as you live within 50 miles of our Raleigh, NC facility. Relocation benefits will be provided within the United States only.

Position Overview:

As a Lead Power Electronics Engineer you will support our product development and design on our high-power DC fast chargers for electric vehicles (>100KW). This role also supports products in our UPS and Energy Storage product lines.

In this role you will:

  • Design and develop DC fast charging power charging stations and systems for EV vehicles.

  • Collaborate on new product development projects while meeting schedule, cost and product performance goals. Interface closely with cross-functional team members.

  • Review product development requirement specifications including product management and customer requirements. Write and maintain functional specifications of design solutions.

  • Evaluate alternative design solutions to meet product development requirements factoring in performance, features, cost, and schedule.

  • Support prototype build, testing and delivery of products to the customer.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 5 years work experience in power electronic circuit design OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years work experience in power electronic circuit design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

Skills:

Position Criteria:

  • Experience applying digital control and algorithms to power electronics and charging subsystems.

  • Understanding of Magnetics design for high frequency Power Electronics.

  • Ability to simulate, analyze, troubleshoot using HIL systems.

  • Competent with Matlab/Simulink/PLECS and PSPICE.

  • Analyze and simulate power electronics systems including, analog, logical, and digital electronics.

  • Familiarity with schematic entry and PCB design tools like Altium, Cadence, etc. Understanding of layout design principles.

  • Will work in lab environment around high voltage where safety awareness is critical.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal/ written communications.

  • Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements.

  • Familiarity with common tools and methods to work in high power lab (480V) environment, oscilloscope, power analyzers and meters
