The Pharmacy Department at Hartford Hospital utilizes a decentralized model with pharmacists embedded on medical teams to advice on optimal drug therapy. We also have an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited Pharmacy Residency program, an active Oncology infusion service, and a Retail/Specialty outpatient pharmacy.
The Lead Pharmacy Technician provides supervisory oversight of Pharmacy Technicians in our Central Pharmacy to ensure daily requirements are met. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to:
Assist Director of Pharmacy services in Pharmacy Technician scheduling and performance evaluation
Assists pharmacist in all aspects of Pharmacy operations in order to meet the goals and objectives of the Pharmacy Department.
Coordinate training and onboarding of new Pharmacy Technicians to the Department
Performs various functions on rotational basis in inpatient, outpatient, controlled substance and floor stock drug distribution, intravenous ad mixture preparation, and extemporaneous compounding.
Education:
High School Diploma required or equivalent.
Associates Degree in Pharmacy Technician program in preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
Current Pharmacy Technician Certification is strongly preferred. employment
Pharmacy registration with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection within 30 days of hire and by March 31st of each year.
