What you'll do
Primary duties of the Lead Perioperative Scheduler require close collaboration with the surgical Clinical Operations managers, Anesthesia, Surgeons and Chiefs, the Lead Perioperative Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for ensuring interdepartmental collaboration of surgery scheduling in an effort to achieve optimized OR schedules through monitoring, reporting and cross-functional problem solving. This position assists with overseeing and identifying improvements in all aspects of the perioperative scheduling processes.
The Lead Perioperative Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for a variety of administrative functions associated with the surgical scheduling processes including creation of scheduling protocols, maintenance of such protocols, oversight of the surgical scheduling process for all divisions, appropriate distribution of cases to ensure efficiency, access and effective use of resources. The Coordinator is also responsible for the orientation, training and competency assessment related to surgical scheduling for all administrative assistant staff in the Perioperative department.
Responsible for continuous oversight of the Department of Perioperative Services OR Schedules. Coordinates and oversees the OR scheduling process for the Department of Perioperative Services at all locations.
Responsible for continuous oversight of the Department of Perioperative Services OR schedules. Works closely with the Department of Surgery and Department of Perioperative Services leadership team to strive for optimal utilization of surgeon time, operating rooms and resources as measured by supervisor observation and highly efficient operating room schedules.
Ongoing analysis of existing OR schedule to determine appropriate case distribution for the Bassett Medical Center, regional sites and affiliate operating rooms under the direction of the Department of Perioperative Services leadership, as measured by semi-annual audits of regional operating room cases and volume.
Collaborates with administrative assistants and surgery schedulers at all locations to facilitate efficient and accurate booking of cases.
Collaborates with Department of Surgery and Department of Perioperative Services leadership, surgeons and division chiefs to identify opportunities for improved utilization and efficiency related to OR scheduling.
Creates, implements and maintains protocols to support Surgical Scheduling processes for every specialty in the Department of Surgery and in collaboration with Anesthesia, PAT, P3 and the Department of Surgery.
Responsible for quality monitoring of surgical scheduling processes and competency assessment of staff performing surgical scheduling tasks.
Consistently performs duties with courtesy as monitored by feedback from staff and monitored by supervisor.
Demonstrates execution of independent judgment within the scope of job responsibilities as measured by direct and indirect supervisory observation and co-worker feedback.
Responsible for communication and collaboration with the Department of Surgery, Anesthesia, Perioperative
Services, regional locations and affiliate sites.
Attends Tuesday morning OR huddles and other meetings as requested as part of a collaborative team(s) striving for efficiency and optimal utilization, providing feedback and updates at the meetings as appropriate, as measured by supervisory observation.
Ensures timely communication to Anesthesia, Perioperative Services, Department of Surgery, regional locations and affiliate sites of changes for OR schedules as a result of time away requests that may impact resource needs.
Coordinates surgery schedules for new surgeons to the department under the direction of the Department of Surgery leadership and in collaboration with Department of Surgery, Anesthesia, the regional locations and affiliate sites.
Coordinates master schedule changes under the direction of the Department leadership and in collaboration with Surgical Services, Anesthesia, the regional locations and affiliate sites.
Coordinates the flexing of schedules in order to meet patient demands and address access issues both in clinic and in the OR.
Identifies opportunities to open additional OR time in order to address the needs of patients and reduce wait times and wait lists.
Trains and serves as a preceptor for new scheduling, support and nursing personnel as measured by direct supervisory observation.
Produces reports on OR and block utilization on a regular basis as measured by direct supervisory observation.
Participates in staffing patterns that reflect variable demands in service as measured by direct supervisory observation.
Promotes a customer service approach with patients, clients, co-workers, surgeons, vendors.
Promotes a positive working relationship at all times and with all.
Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed.

Physical Requirements:

Pay Range
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.
Pay Range Minimum:
USD $20.29/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:
USD $30.44/Hr.
