ADP is hiring a Lead Payroll Policy Developer

The Payroll Policy Analyst/Developer builds payroll calculation business rules/policies based on the statutory requirements, with end to end integration from onboarding to statutory reporting using ADP's in-house IDE.

In this role, you will analyze requirements to understand new/enhanced payroll/tax processing logic. You will participate in story mapping sessions with stakeholders and cross-functional teams. You will facilitate Specification by Example (SBE) sessions to gain a clear understanding of assigned features. You will develop policies for payroll calculations to satisfy statutory requirements. You will write and maintain test scenarios and test cases for complex payroll/tax features, and work with development partners to define system-to-system interactions. You provide support by troubleshooting issues identified on production system by analyzing API response payloads in JSON, and transform test cases into the automation framework in spreadsheet format. You will validate test results against product requirements. You will utilize JIRA, Confluence (document repository), Google suite (Google docs, Google sheets, etc), Sequel Pro, MySQL Workbench, POSTMAN, IntelliJ and other tools for analysis and development. You will participate in sprint planning, standups, story definition, story estimation and other agile / scrum development activities, and update published statutory changes from tax jurisdictions. You will evaluate changes by other developers and provide feedback.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Here's what you can expect on a typical day:

  • You'll start each day with a scrum, working in a team to understand responsibilities, identify issues, and communicate coding priorities while choosing user stories to complete. You will also participate in other agile ceremonies, including scheduled sprint demos, where you will present your work to up to 90 stakeholders.

  • Influence and inspire confidence. You are comfortable presenting to senior leaders, product owners, and peers with a compelling voice that you demonstrate through executive presence, leading change, and creating clear executive-level communications on milestone achievements.

  • Experience. You have 3+ years of experience in relevant skills gained and developed in the same or similar role.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

  • You'll have a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent.

Payroll:

  • Basic US payroll knowledge with regards to Statutory requirements

  • Troubleshooting (Use payroll experience/knowledge to troubleshoot prod issues)

  • Tax calculation knowledge (US Tax knowledge - not SME level but needs to know basic concepts and common elements of US calc I.e. FIT, FICA taxes, 401k, etc.)

  • Year end Tax reporting

  • Experience with HCM/Payroll systems such as SAP Payroll, ADP GlobalView, Oracle and ADP Autopay.

Technical:

  • Payroll rule development experience

  • Integration experience (between payroll, onboarding, and downstream reporting)

  • Critical thinking to analyze complex payroll requirements and map solutions

  • Need to be able to navigate multiple environments and API's to test, troubleshoot, and promote fixes and new policies.

Nice to Have:

  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.

  • Experience with XML/JSON.

  • Agile project development experience.

  • CPP/FCP payroll certification.

  • Understand payroll concepts such as:

o date driven changes (backdated and future dated)

o retro/recalculations

o gross-up

o deduction elimination

o reciprocity

o supplemental wages

o Multi Jurisdiction tax calculations

o Arrears processing
