JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): Under the leadership of the Patient Access Director, Manager, and Coordinators (Leadership), the Lead will assist in the day to day overseeing of the Patient Access Department. . Works closely with Patient Access Leadership in managing and implementing St. Peter's standards and policies; ensuring quality measures for scheduling and pre-registration accuracy are established and standards are met throughout the organization. . Assists Patient Access Leadership with maintenance, support, upgrades, and testing of Meditech Healthcare Information System as it relates to patient access functions.
Assists in ensuring the effective and timely communication regarding the hospital or clinic programs, initiatives, and goals. Assists in ensuring Scheduling and Pre-Registration staff processes meet or exceed internal and external customer expectations and patient satisfaction. Effectively and professionally communicates with all levels of leadership and staff; acts as a liaison between administration, staff, patients and other medical group practices.
Assists Schedulers or Pre-Registration staff with difficult customers/situations and effectively handles service issues. Acts as a resource for scheduling or pre-registration questions. Fosters collaborative efforts between Scheduling and/or Pre-Registration personnel to promote teamwork and competency in the , scheduling and switchboard processes.
Assists Patient Access Leadership with timely completion of administrative and office management duties. May schedule employees for their shifts and making certain shifts are covered for sick or vacation time. Maintains other management reports as requested.
Monitors the scheduling or pre-registration processes to ensure consistent and efficient workflow. May provide input and feedback to the Director or Manager for individual staff evaluation and competency processes. May work varied shifts, week ends, and holidays in order to effectively lead staff. Performs registration, reception and scheduling duties as needed on a limited basis.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated strength in professional and interpersonal communication skills(written, verbal, and electronic). Knowledge of computer programs:
Lotus, Microsoft Word, Excel. Possess advanced knowledge of the complex functions of word processing, spelling, grammar, punctuation, spreadsheets for data analysis, and basic correspondence. Meditech or other HCIS is strongly preferred.
EDUCATION: High School graduation or GED preferred with at least 1 year progressively responsible experience in a healthcare patient registration setting.
Some college or Associates degree is preferred. Completes all mandatory review/education as required and assigned.
