LEAD PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER

PARK MAINTENANCE LEAD SUPERVISOR - PARKS AND RECREATION

Classification Title: Park Maintenance Lead Supervisor (Part Time)

PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION

The purpose of this position is to lead the work of assigned crews performing manual labor, grass cutting, trimming, edging, cutting of shrubs, pruning trees, cutting down small trees, and landscaping grounds for the purpose of maintaining Clayton County International Park. Assigned work, supervises daily operations and ensures work is performed in a safe and efficient manner which results in quality work products. Employees in this position work as supervisors and are engaged in the activities being performed by subordinates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following duties are normal for this position, however, all functions may not be performed in all departments. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Plans, coordinates, and supervises daily operations and activities of assigned work crews engaged in park maintenance of grounds.

Plans daily operations, assigns work to crewmembers, and obtains and issues necessary materials, equipment, and supplies; provides direction and instruction to crews; reviews and evaluates work in progress and ensures work adheres to safety practices and quality standards.

Performs preventive maintenance and routine repair on tools and equipment as needed; replaces broken or damaged tools and equipment and identifies need for repair; ensures tools and supplies are properly cleaned, stored, and secured; maintains order in equipment storage area

Provides information, assistance, and directions to the general public regarding the Park and the use of its facilities; and keeps work sites and supply areas clean.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Must be 21 years of age or older. Must have one (1) year of maintenance experience that includes the repair of lawn mowers and weed eaters.

Good physical health. Must be available for work on weekends and holidays. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Must possess an original security card. May be required to work up to 25 hours per week.

Physical Abilities: Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
