The Lead Operator position responsible for the day-to-day safe and customer service oriented operations of waste treatment, oil treatment and water injection. In this role, the proper supervision and training of Operators is high priory. It is imperative that all employees are given appropriate guidance to ensure that each individual Operator and the facility is operating at a high caliber of efficiency. The Lead Operator will be in constant contact with customers and therefore, must demonstrate excellent communications skills and a high level of customer service. As this is a safety-sensitive role and due to the nature of working conditions, the Lead Operator is required to be mentally and physically fit to in order to successfully perform the tasks and responsibilities of this role.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the day to day operation of the plant and for supervising the plant Operators

  • Plant safety (i.e. ensuring that each operation is following SOP's and safety work procedures, SWP permitting, Hazard Assessments and iTrak items are closed in a timely manner)

  • Assigning roles to each Operator on shift and supervising each Operator's area in the plant

  • Submitting truck tickets summary daily plant checklists and balance & transfers to the office

  • Ensuring proper updates to the Spartan metering system (i.e. ensuring spot testing is accurate, crude stream segregation and mixing)

  • Shipping oil and blending butane to Pembina and ensuring monthly nomination is met

  • Waste plant operation (i.e. ensuring solids processing is meeting or exceeding landfill criteria and solids testing)

  • General housekeeping (i.e. ensure that the plant is kept clean and safe)

  • Training (i.e. ensuring each Operator is training in required areas, should be daily/ongoing)

  • Water injection (i.e. ensuring water is being injected and levels are kept low to protect the injection well integrity)

  • Night shift (i.e. ensure workers on night shift are clear in their roles and responsibilities so daytime operations do not fall behind)

Qualifications/Competencies

The individual in this role will have:

  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent

  • A valid and acceptable Driver's license and successful completion of Pre-employment testing

  • Has spent a minimum of 5 years as an Operator in a Water Disposal plant and is highly experienced in all processes of the plant

  • A minimum of 3 years operations experience in waste processing and oil treating or water injection

  • Special training in boilers, treaters, pumps (all), repairs, shaker/centrifuge and loader is considered an asset

  • Must have previously taken leadership courses

  • Current and valid safety tickets, including; H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHIMS and TDG

  • A strong attention to detail, communication skills and a profound ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment

  • Must be able to clearly and accurately document their work and ensure consistent communication with the Facility Manager and other Leads

  • Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate good decision-making skills

  • Proven ability to work well under limited amount of supervision

  • Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and safe work practices

  • Must demonstrate strong teaching methods regarding all processes in the plant, including; safety operations, oil treating & blending, waste processing and water disposal

  • Must demonstrate a high level of integrity and accountability as the Lead Operator will be responsible for managing the plant in the absence of the Facility Manager

  • Ensure consistent and clear communication with the Facility Manager, Coordinator and other Leads

The Operator will actively assist with standard operating procedures, hazard assessments, safety programs and environment protection. The Operator will be in constant contact with customers and must demonstrate excellent communications skills and a high level of customer service. Essential Duties& Responsibilities The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: * Responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operation of the facility * Responsible for truck unloading, oil emulsion and water & vac trucks * Responsible for oil treating with the treater, cooler or tank treating * Participating in waste processing, waste and mud tank operation, shaker & centrifuge operations and solids treating * Responsible and accountable for the receipt, terminal storage and transportation of crude oil while adhering to Measurement & Crude Oil Quality compliance * Managing ongoing water injection, filter changing and pump maintenance * Conducting treatment of solids on the waste pad * Conducting boiler operations, testing and steam system operations * Ensuring that all corporate compliance programs are adhered to * Submitting truck tickets summary, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfers to the office * Participates in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) * Waste plant operation (ensuring solids processing is meeting or exceeding landfill criteria and solids testing) * Following water injection SOP's and best practices to protect the disposal well integrity * General maintenance, ensure that the plant is kept clean and safe Qualifications and Educational Requirements: The successful candidate will have: * A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma or equivalent * A minimum of 3 years operational experience in waste processing and oil treating or water injection * Midstream terminal operations experience is considered a strong asset * Specialty training in boilers, treaters, pumps (all), repairs, shaker/centrifuge and loader is considered an asset * Proven ability to demonstrate strong methods regarding all processes in the plant, including; safety operations, oil treating & blending, waste processing and water disposal * Current and valid safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHIMS and TDG * A strong attention to detail, communication skills with the ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment * Must be able to document their work, perform and manage cross shift communication and ensure strategic communication with multiple stakeholders * Must be able to multi-task and demonstrate excellent decision-making skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues * Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and safe work practices * A valid and acceptable Driver's license and successful completion of Pre-employment testing Secure Energy Serv J Keene ND
