Shift: Monday - Friday 430-2:30 and weekends 6:00am-10:00am

Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring a Lead Nurse responsible for administering medication to patients under the guidance of the Medical Director and the Chief Medical Officer. Assists the physician with physical examinations, blood tests, UA tests. The Head Nurse is responsible for accurate accounting of all medication and for follow up with all nurses to maintain accurate documentation and reports related to dosing, dispensing, storage and ordering of medication.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Dispense prescribed medication to patients in treatment program, paying special attention to behavioral patterns, medical symptoms, physical symptoms related to dosage, and other symptoms related to drug usage and mental problems.

  • Responsible for maintaining proper patient records: client drug screen profile, physician orders, daily dosing sheets, nurse's notes, accountability of medication, daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly reports. In Montana, accountability of medication, administering of medication and required reporting is completed under guidance of the Pharmacist.

  • Responsible for the preparation of take-home medication under the guidance of the Medical Director and/or Chief Medical Officer.

  • Assists with routine physicals, blood draws, urine analysis collection, oral swabs, checking vital signs.

  • Must be prepared to administer CPR when needed.

  • Assists Nursing Manager and/or Nursing Operations Director with overall nursing needs of all assigned CMS locations, including projects, assignments and required changes related to nursing requirements as needed according to State, CARF, DEA and accreditation/licensure requirements.

  • Monitors nursing and pharmacy reports, dosing logs, inventory documentation at all locations.Implements and trains nursing staff related to updates and changes in nursing protocol and individual training needs at eachlocation.

  • Responsible for ordering all supplies needed, assisting in ordering medication, arranging for temporary transfers of patients.

  • May need to interface with governing authorities when making routine audits.

Qualifications

  • Licensed LPN, or RN in the state where they are employed by Community Medical Services

  • CPR Certification Required

  • First Aid Certification Required

  • Good academic and working knowledge of DSM V, Community Resources, Psychotropic Medications, Crisis Intervention, Clinical Methods and Procedures, Intervention Techniques and ability to apply same to possibly unstable, treatment resistant adult/adolescent/child of various ethnic cultures for co-occurring disorders (GMH/SA/SMI). To include one year of clinical supervision experience in a behavioral health setting

  • Valid state-issued driver's license and MVR clearance is required. Three years of driving experience is required. A 39-month MVR is required for you to have at the time of your interview.

  • Experience in the field of drug abuse is preferred but not required.

  • Basic computer knowledge is necessary.

  • Ability to observe and care for patients.

  • Ability to keep accurate files

  • Ability to travel- including out of town as needed for medication delivery and nursing coverage and/or assistance as needed

Physical Working Conditions and Office Setting Description:

  • Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment.

  • Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard.

  • Requires prolonged sitting, standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.

  • Some lifting may be required.

  • Frequent and prolonged typing and frequent and prolonged operation of computer, keyboard, and telephones required.

  • Requires occasional use of fax machines, telephones, copiers, and other office equipment. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
