Job Summary: Performs a variety of laboratory tests, many of which are complex, involve numerous steps and techniques, and require use of professional judgment.
Tests may be performed in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Serology, or Urinalysis.
Professional application of the principles, theories, and techniques of Medical Technology are used to produce reliable test results, which aid the physician in diagnosis and treatment. This individual will share oversight of the technical operations of all clinical laboratory sections and report to the Laboratory Director and Medical Director of Laboratory Services. This individual develops, organizes, and maintains his/her assigned sections in areas of instrumentation, test procedures, workflow, and employee training.
####The Lead Medical Technologist shares responsibility with the second Lead Medical Technologist
, to act on behalf of the Laboratory Director in his/her absence if directed. Each Lead assists and coordinates job responsibilities with one another where needed. # Minimum Education/License/Certification Requirements Bachelor#s degree in clinical laboratory science required, or an associate degree in clinical laboratory science with a bachelor#s degree in a health sciences concentration.
Certification as MT(ASCP) or CLS-ASCP/AMT, CLT-HEW/HHS, or MLT (ASCP) with 5 years# experience (preferred) as a Generalist including Hematology, Blood Bank, Serology, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Coagulation, and Microbiology. Two to three years lead experience preferred. Requires knowledge in quality assurance, quality Control, proficiency testing and review, general lab standards, Joint Commission Standards, and CLIA.
CAP accreditation experience preferred. Able to develop testing procedures, knowledge of proper analytical testing protocol and troubleshooting, and must have excellent communication and organizational skills.# A strong knowledge of Meditech reports and Meditech dictionaries is preferred.
