  • ROLE OVERVIEW:

In cooperation with and under the direction of the supervisor, functions as a medical technologist with an emphasis on technical knowledge, instruction, problem solving and management development. Assumes leadership role of the department in the absence of the supervisor. The standard of ethical and professional performance must be consistent with established medical laboratory practice and demonstrate the philosophy of Mid America Clinical Laboratories.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimal requirements must be met to fulfill the Primary Role Responsibilities. These requirements are reflected in the Experience Required and Skills Performed sections as well as the Physical Requirements and Environmental Worksheet.

Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology of Laboratory Science with one year internship from an accredited School of Medical Technology.

BS/BA in Laboratory Sciences with 2 years clinical experience.

Certification as a Medical Technologist, MT(ASCP), CLS(ASCP), (AMT) or equivalent.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Ability to cooperate and work with others, communicate and instruct effectively, and demonstrate knowledge of theory, principles and techniques of laboratory medicine. Exhibit an above average ability to perform independent technical and ethical decisions. Organize to perform multiple tasks at the same time and provide services appropriate to the age of the customers served.
