Role Summary:
The Lead Manufacturing Quality Engineer will provide quality review associated with the manufacturing process. Requires mastery of a body of theoretical knowledge. Requires developed and strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant technologies.
Essential Responsibilities:
As the Lead Manufacturing Quality Engineer you will:
Demonstrate and support nuclear safety culture behaviors
Support shop operations as needed to safely deliver quality parts on time to customers
Develop and implement new welding processes for an ASME Section IX welding program in support of improvements to existing products, and new products
Qualify new welding personnel to Welding Procedure Specifications (6G weld testing)
Troubleshoot welding issues; provide and support implementation of solutions
Develop mechanical inspection procedures
Disposition non-conforming parts
Provide solutions to non-conformance issues and manufacturing challenges, including developing and implementing actions to prevent recurrence of non-conforming conditions
Develop Non-destructive examination (NDE) processes to reduce destructive material testing
Develop and qualify Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) inspection programs
Interface with customers and regulators for factory acceptance testing and oversight activities
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in welding, materials or mechanical engineering or related fields
Minimum of 4 years manufacturing experience or serving in an engineering role supporting manufacturing
Minimum of 3 years of experience solving welding-related issues
Minimum of 2 years of experience with business enterprise software applications
Desired Characteristics:
Experience with NDE processes including Eddy Current, Ultrasonic Testing and Liquid Penetrant Testing
Ability to certify NDE Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant and/or Ultrasonic Testing Level III
Hands-on approach with ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment
Ability to work in cross-functional team environment. Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Self-starter possessing strong initiative, and demonstrated teamwork skills
2 years of experience in quality assurance or supporting organizations with highly regulated quality requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills particularly technical writing, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Working knowledge of GTAW, LASER, Oxy-Fuel Acetylene and resistance welding processes
Deep understanding of GD&T
Knowledge of CAD or similar modeling software
Knowledge of programming Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM)
Able to generate inspection and testing procedures based on engineering design drawings and specifications
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
