Lead Manufacturing Engineer

As an integral part of the site leadership team, this position is a high visibility role responsible for leading projects, manufacturing engineers, and engineering co-ops in the execution of all technical related activities, new business initiatives, continuous improvement initiatives, and daily support of the 24/5 operation of the plant. This position requires the successful candidate to work across manufacturing and non-manufacturing functions to meet deliverables- many of which require recurring customer facing communications.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

B.S. in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent combination of experience and education

Kind & Length of Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing engineering and or engineering projects and processes.

  • 1 year of experience leading a successful team.

  • Proficient in MS Office programs such as Outlook and Excel.

  • Strong organizational skills necessary.

  • Position requires professional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to motivate and influence direct reports and others is critical to the success of the role.

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity simultaneously.

  • Must have experience in a customer facing role with daily interaction with customer.

  • Experience in CPG industry is helpful.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND STANDARDS

  • Direct department activities to modify existing designs, improve production techniques, develop testing procedures.

  • Align direct reports with organizational objectives through key performance indicators development and maintain alignment through daily huddles, plant cadence, 1:1's and other meetings as necessary.

  • Coordinate project planning and project development activities with accurate budgeting aligned with resource planning models;

  • Lead site Capital Projects presentation and work closely with Plant Manager on budgeting.

  • Maintain positive, productive working relationship with customer leading the daily communication on prior day results.

  • Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.

  • Collaborating with other members of management to develop new engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.

  • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service;

  • Train and develop direct reports to achieve their fullest potential to support organizational needs;

  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor current and upcoming engineering projects;

  • Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams as required or requested;

  • Implement and improve measures inspection methods, equipment/tool performance, product quality, efficiency and morale to better support organization;

  • Maintain active role with organization Continuous Improvement activities;

  • Complete nonconformance, corrective/preventive action as assigned to Engineering team;

  • Maintain a safe and secure workplace and meet environmental site requirements;

  • Develop engineering specifications that include appropriate EHS&S considerations;

  • Collaborate with site Leadership to ensure timely production;

  • Report accidents and incidents to a supervisor or the EHS&S department;

  • Participate in required organization, IT, and EHS&S, training as assigned;

  • Understand and be able to communicate site significant aspects.

  • Other duties as deemed necessary by Plant Manager.
