Scope of Work Plans, supervises and directs the work of employees in the repair work and preventive maintenance program for the treatment plant, pumping stations, pipelines, electrical and mechanical equipment and related facilities. BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in the development of the budget and makes recommendations for purchases, capital items and additional employees during the annual budget process. Monitors expenditures during the year. Essential Job Duties Follows safe practices in the performance of duties.

Perform operational duties when and as needed to cover shifts Plans, assigns, and inspects the work of the workers engaged in the repair and maintenance of plant and pumping station equipment and buildings, and mechanical and electrical equipment. Inspects work of employees while in progress and upon completion, checks material and workmanship and makes method and improvement suggestions. Oversees, utilizes, implements, and maintains computer maintenance management software program.

Oversees maintenance and all components of SCADA system. Supervises the maintenance and control of materials and supplies. Supervises the maintenance of time, production, and pumping station flow records.

Assures plant and station flow meters are calibrated and recording properly. Analyzes and improves preventative and corrective maintenance work order system, work control centers, and work methods. Maintains building systems and upkeep for all Water treatment and production facilities.

Train's maintenance personnel in the use and safe handling of tools and equipment related to the treatment process. Work with superiors on recommendations of modifications and replacement of plant equipment. Maintains and makes recommendations for the plant's energy conservation program.

Evaluates employees' performance. Performs other related duties assigned. Physical and Environmental Conditions Ability to sit, stand and transport self from building to building.

Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various work sites. Employee will work in seasonal temperatures bending, kneeling, twisting and climbing. Employee can work with potential mechanical, chemical and electrical hazards.

Employee may be exposed to communicable diseases while handling raw sewage. Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs, climb stairs and open access hatches. Must be able to climb 50 ft ladders and work effectively at that height.

Must be able to wear an SCBA. Required Qualifications Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Knowledge of safe practices related to Public Works. Considerable knowledge in the methods and practices used in installing, maintaining, repairing and replacing mechanical equipment and material is required.

Thorough knowledge of valves and piping is required.

Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices of the electrical trade is required.

Proven proficiency in knowledge, understanding and use of the Microsoft (or similar) suite of tools (Word, and Excel, Outlook) is required.

Proven ability to work with computer maintenance management software is required. Ability to operate a vehicle and equipment on private and public streets is required.

Proven ability to perform complex mathematical computations is required.

Proven ability to effectively manage the work of a multidisciplinary work group is required Proven ability to interpret, verify, and accurately enter data into a computer database is required.

Proven ability to follow directions and complete assignments is required.

Proven ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations is required.

Proven ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English is required.

Proven ability to work as part of a team and to collaborate successfully with others is required.

Proven ability to adapt to new or changed situations and to show flexibility in making improvements in work processes and operations is required.

Proven ability to exhibit customer-centered behaviors and to focus on customer needs is required.

Proven ability to commit to excellence in service and to continuous improvement is required. Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Graduation from High School or completion of a GED is required.

Five (5) years' experience in the maintenance and repair of water or wastewater plant equipment is required; with at least two (2) years supervisory experience is highly desired. with experience in analyzing and applying data to issues is required. Licenses and Certificates Possession of a valid Texas State Driver's License is required. Must possess a valid Texas Class "A" CDL or have the ability to obtain said license within Two (2) years of employment.

Possession of a TCEQ Class "C' Water license required, with the ability to obtain a Class "B" Surface Water License, issued by the State of Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is required within two (2) years of employment. REQUIRED CONTACTS: Employee communicates with the general public, management and staff from within and outside the Utilities dept, Vendors, contractors and salesmen as necessary.
