Job Summary

This position, Lead Lot Attendant, is located within the Department of Public Works (DPW) with Parking Enforcement Management Administration (PEMA) within the Abandoned Vehicle Operations Division. The Lead Lot Attendant position supports the effective operation of the Department of Public Works Vehicle Impoundment Lot under the jurisdiction of the District of Columbia Government. The incumbent serves as a working leader of a team of Lot Attendantsa, leading their daily activities under supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

In this capacity, the incumbent directs the operations of the impoundment lot in support of the District's Parking Enforcement Program. Directs the release of all vehicles and ensures that proper paperwork is completed before the release of the vehicle.

Prepares or directs the preparation of various reports as required by higher authority. Monitors impoundment activities continuously to ensure accuracy and expeditious handling of vehicles being received or released from the impoundment lot.

Coordinates with supervisor to receive vehicles from crane operators at the impoundment lot, noting which spaces are filled and their locations. Assures that the maximum number of vehicles are filtered into the impoundment lot in an orderly manner. Carefully monitors subordinates inspecting vehicles for damage to ensure the accuracy of forms prepared by crane operators, that information is in agreement with the existing condition of the vehicle, and that information is correct.

Qualifications and Education

Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Licenses and Certifications

Incumbents must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Work Conditions/Environment

The work involves considerable walking outdoors on the lot and sedentary clerical work completed indoors. The incumbent will constantly switch from a climate-controlled indoor to an outdoor environment.

Salary Range: $45,084 - $59,223 Per Annum

Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is in a collective bargaining unit by AFGE 1975.

Position Designation: This position has been designated as security sensitive; therefore, the incumbent will be subject to enhanced suitability screening under Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability. As such, incumbents of this position shall be subject to criminal background checks and background investigations.

The position is designated as an "essential" government employee as defined under the D.C. personnel regulations. The incumbent may be required to work during a declared emergency when non-essential and non-emergency employees are dismissed.

Essential Designation: This position has been designated an essential employee position under the provisions of the District Personnel Manual, Chapter 12.

As such, your services may be required in emergencies to perform crucial duties, such as snow removal, debris removal, transportation, shelter operation, food distribution, and communications. These duties may be performed when the government is closed or when most employees are dismissed early. Critical District government operations cannot be suspended or interrupted during emergencies.

If the position you are applying for is in the Career, Management Supervisory, or Educational Service at an annual salary of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) or more, you must establish residency in the District of Columbia within one hundred eighty (180) days of the effective date of the appointment and continue to maintain residency within the District of Columbia throughout the duration of the appointment.
