POSITION SUMMARY:

Penske Logistics is looking for a Lead Load Planner to become part of an excellent team. This is a great opportunity for an individual who is self-motivated, has strong analytical and computer skills, strong attention to detail and is enthusiastic to work in a customer-centric environment. This position coordinates all processes and functions of load planning and freight movement.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support supervisor on process management activities and customer communication

  • Indirect team management responsibilities delegated by Supervisor or Account manager

  • Shift management responsibilities for a single customer or across customer

  • Requires travelling to be on Penske or customer on-site locations

  • Run metrics and measures to manage process controls

  • Train the team on load planning activities and update SOP periodically

  • Plan and optimize shipments into loads using Penske's Transportation Management System

  • Tender freight requirements to 3rd Party Carriers

  • Maintain Transportation Management systems

  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries

  • Act as first/second level escalation for customer inquiries

  • Works with Operations Managers to ensure customer expectations are met

  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

  • Stay current on the customer's industry

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred (Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management / Logistics in lieu of industry experience is preferred)

  • Experience in Logistics Services including warehouse, distribution, or supply chain management is preferred

  • Transportation Management experience preferred

  • Previous Load Planning experience preferred

  • Candidate should possess problem solving skills and ability to communicate solutions.

  • Ability to work with team and support team needs

  • Ability to prioritize customer and business needs and drive customer delight

  • Excellent communication, organizational & PC skills (including Microsoft Office products).

  • Attention to detail & accuracy

  • Ability to learn quickly and multi-task

  • Sense of urgency & ability to understand customer requirements

  • Ability to work First, Second and Third Shift as needed. Flexibility with scheduling required.

  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, criminal history, and drug screening) required.

Position Overview: Operate yard tractor to move trailers in the yard and offer warehouse support as required Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Follow and enforce all safety measures and precautions and maintain an excellent safety record. This includes wearing required PPEs and keeping all required safety equipment in good condition. * Comply with all company policies, procedures, GMPs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Aseptic Code of Safe Practices. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources. * Closely follow written and oral instructions from supervisors and management. * Complete/verify SAP transactions in the SAP system to ensure inventory and usage information is accurate * Coordinate pickups of all finished goods and customer owned raw material returns. * Coordinate pick up of all recyclables, dunnage, and waste between production, sanitation, and applicable vendors. * Perform monthly cycle counts and troubleshoot any significant variances. * Communicate with customers to provide information or respond to queries as required. * Plan storage space availability against requirements. * Assist with warehouse layout and inventory strategies. * Manage offsite inventory with 3rd party warehouses. * Occasionally move and lift various objects weighing up to 50lbs. * Communicate with dock clerk and warehouse, acting as a liaison between all buildings * Know and maintain Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) that comply with company standards. * Take an active role in contributing to continuous operational improvement. * Work in a team-based environment and communicate effectively and respectfully with peers, supervisors and management. Possess motivation and ability to work independently on assignments and complete assigned tasks in a satisfactory manner. * High school diploma or general education degree (GED). * Minimum of 1 year of experience in warehouse environment or equivalent type of manufacturing. * Excellent attendance and safety record required. * Possess current forklift certification. * Possess current Class A Driver License * Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. * Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. * Ability to use computer, including email and web based programs. * Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
