Requirements we'd love to see:

  • 7 years strong Linux administration and engineering experience in an enterprise environment with 500 servers

  • Extensive experience with installing, configuring and maintaining systems with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6/7 required

  • Administration experience with running Linux on VMWare, and bare metal hardware such as Dell, UCS.

  • Strong experience in writing scripts - Shell, Python and/or Ruby

  • Experience with source control tools such as Git and/or SVN

  • Able to successfully contribute in cross-functional teams comprised of infrastructure engineers, architects, and application developers.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize, develop and execute multiple projects

Preferred Skills we'd like to see:

  • Experience with Linux configuration/orchestration such as Puppet/Ansible, RedHat Satellite

  • Experience with Monitoring and logging such as Zenoss and Splunk

  • Experience with tools such as Jenkins, and/or Artifactory

  • Experience working in a cloud infrastructure preferably AWS

Familiarity with container frameworks like Docker Swarm and/or Kubernetes

  • You will work in closely with developers, information security, production support, and infrastructure teams to support our Linux infrastructure.

  • Analyze and resolve configuration issues in development, test, and production environments

This includes actively troubleshooting, testing, documenting, and resolving issues. Resolution may involve coding, testing, implementing or installing software, interacting with vendors and partners, automation and scripting, or systems administration tasks. Individuals may be required to give in-person, hands-on help to users. Primary Duties * Working within the IT Operations organization to assist with engineering the organizational devops strategy. Some examples could include: * Architecture and maintenance of orchestration tools, such as Ansible Tower * Enhancement and automation of system maintenance, for server instances hosted within the cloud * Development and deployment of new automation strategies and practices * System health monitoring * Creation of automation in support of work items * Collaborating with Development teams as needed to support Dev-Ops initiatives * Direct assistance of customers and resolving their issues * Troubleshooting of technical issues on AWS EC2, S3, and other AWS infrastructure * Work with business team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues * Software packaging for automated updating and rollouts * Assist in software releases and roll-outs and communication to the end users * Develop and execute test plans to check applications, infrastructure and systems technical performance * Document the company's existing systems architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives * Collaborate with different areas of IT and the business in order to provide solutions for the Bank * Provide on-call support of bank applications * Other duties as required Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering and/or 5 years of equivalent work experience * 7+ years strong Linux administration experience in an enterprise environment with 500+ servers * Strong experience with scripting languages, preferably Python * Extensive experience installing, configuring and maintaining systems with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6/7.x * Experience with source control tools such as Git and/or SVN * Able to successfully contribute in cross-functional teams comprised of infrastructure engineers, architects, and application developers * Experience with Linux management and orchestration tools such as Ansible, RedHat Satellite, and Puppet/Chef * Experience with monitoring tools, such as Splunk * Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS * Familiarity with container frameworks like Docker swarm and/or Kubernetes Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors * Strong written and oral communication skills * Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills * Strong documentation skills * Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required * Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language * Highly self-motivated and directed * Keen attention to detail * Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities * Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure situations * Exceptional customer service orientation * Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment The Federal Home Loan Bank Of Chicago Chicago IL
