Requirements we'd love to see:

  • 7 years strong Linux administration and engineering experience in an enterprise environment with 500 servers

  • Extensive experience with installing, configuring and maintaining systems with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6/7 required

  • Administration experience with running Linux on VMWare, and bare metal hardware such as Dell, UCS.

  • Strong experience in writing scripts - Shell, Python and/or Ruby

  • Experience with source control tools such as Git and/or SVN

  • Able to successfully contribute in cross-functional teams comprised of infrastructure engineers, architects, and application developers.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize, develop and execute multiple projects

Preferred Skills we'd like to see:

  • Experience with Linux configuration/orchestration such as Puppet/Ansible, RedHat Satellite

  • Experience with Monitoring and logging such as Zenoss and Splunk

  • Experience with tools such as Jenkins, and/or Artifactory

  • Experience working in a cloud infrastructure preferably AWS

Familiarity with container frameworks like Docker Swarm and/or Kubernetes

Impact you will make:

  • You will be integral part of a growing Linux engineering team that is responsible for managing and supporting our traditional Linux environment on premise and cloud environment in AWS.

  • You will work in closely with developers, information security, production support, and infrastructure teams to support our Linux infrastructure.

  • Promote automation and focus on eliminating manual steps wherever possible.

  • Analyze and resolve configuration issues in development, test, and production environments

  • Understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation

The Senior UNIX Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting a growing base of Red Hat and other UNIX infrastructure. This position will oversee infrastructure design, hardware sizing, reporting on environments, and the creation of standards and procedures. As Senior IT Engineer – Linux you will perform the following essential functions……. * Create and Review/Approve technical designs, implement, and support ULTA's enterprise environments. * Key member in ULTA's automation development and implementation. * Communicate directly with the business and IT to develop high performing, efficient, cost effective, and operationally supportable solutions that meet the business' complex requirements. * Identify opportunities for improvement within the environment, both technical and operational, along with plans to capture those benefits. * Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems. * Responsible for the overall server area including maintenance (patching, Operating System upgrades, etc), managing incidents, root cause analysis and change control processes * Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports. * Works closely with peer ULTA IT, security, operations and business teams to deliver infrastructure services to support Enterprise applications (e.g. SAP, JDA, HANA, Manhattan) throughout the company. * Collaborate with other members of the Engineering organization to create and maintain standards and operating procedures, and provide information as appropriate to manager, project manager, and various departments within the Company. * Participate in industry forums, trade shows and seminars as appropriate; Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures to keep abreast of latest trends in industry. Requirements Job Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience required. * Minimum 5+ years of IT experience with expert level experience in Linux support and administration, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux. * RHSA and RHCE preferred or equivalent experience. * 5+ years' experience in design and architecture for a Linux based infrastructure. * Scripting skills with either Bash, Python, PowerShell, or PowerCLI are required. * Proven experience and ability to manage problem resolutions of complex or intermittent issues in a multi-vendor, integrated enterprise environment. * Skilled and comfortable with tackling complex challenges, either in leading the troubleshooting effort or advising others. * Experience with Linux server security and hardening servers. * Experience with Java application server environments including JBoss and Tomcat a plus. * Experience in other technologies such as server hardware (Cisco UCS/HP), Storage (EMC/Nimble), virtualization (VMware), and Microsoft products a plus. * Demonstrates poise and professionalism while working under pressure. * Strong Communications (written and verbal), customer focus and leadership skills required. * Strong team player with proven experience and ability to collaborate internally among teams and externally among application and business units. * Flawless ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language. * Extremely self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. * Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities. * Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. * Off-Hours support including Periodic (rotational) On-call availability. * Ability to mentor and train fellow team members. #ultadi Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc.
