The Lead Learning Program Manager will be responsible for assessing the health of their programs across a variety of metrics including learning efficacy, program profitability, and learner satisfaction. The Learning Program Manager must be able to manipulate data, derive insights and share recommendations across the organization in a matrixed structure to run the programs in their portfolio. In addition, this individual must have deep understanding of learning theory and the ability to serve as an advocate for the programs across product development, editorial and production, among other departments, to enable a seamless and high quality program. Finally this individual must be able to represent their programs internally and externally to potential customers and partner organizations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead detailed project plans for complex learning programs across the O'Reilly ecosystem

  • Act as single point of contact for each program on schedule, cost, and scope

  • Quickly understand the needs of end users and be able to coordinate the efforts of multiple teams to achieve an excellent learning product/experience

  • Make, measure and monitor improvements on each program in your portfolio

  • Lead and influence multiple stakeholders in order to drive execution of program roadmap

  • Engage with external stakeholders and potential program participants as needed to represent and develop program business

  • Partner with other teams to source, allocate and coordinate resources (especially Editorial, Product and Production)

  • Craft and lead reporting of status, progress and performance of your programs

  • Facilitate the resolution of issues within your programs across organizational lines

  • Design and implement process changes and refinements to support quality management

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in learning/instructional design/curriculum development

  • Experience in a technology product environment

  • Knowledge of the engineering process helpful

  • Prior experience in business development desired, to help represent the program to various internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience in fast-growing, professional product-focused environments

  • Ability to adapt to changes in priority and quickly resolve necessary adjustments in process and plans

  • High degree of organization and ability to lead multiple, meaningful projects and priorities at a time

  • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and teamwork skills that will enable you to earn trust at all levels

  • Experience leading teams that are building and running complex programs that are highly reliable and scalable

  • Validated experience of managing projects, budgets and rationalizing resource needs to senior leaders and finance partners

  • Experience bringing software or online products to market a plus

  • Expertise or use of PMP/PMgP/Lean/SCRUM a plus
