LEAD LAUNCH TECHNICIAN - DRAGON GROUND OPERATIONS
SpaceX is currently seeking talented individuals for a position on the Crew Dragon Launch Operations team. As a part of the team, you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience and creativity to develop novel solutions in human spaceflight operations and reusability. You will work on pre-flight vehicle processing, recovery and refurbishment of the next generation Dragon spacecraft, designed to take crew and cargo to low earth orbit. For human flights, you will also work on pre-flight and recovery processing of the crew during their journey to the International Space Station. You will have ownership of your work in all phases of ground operation and will directly interface with astronauts. The role will also provide an opportunity to establish aircraft like operations on Dragon and interface with the design engineers on the next generation SpaceX Mars vehicle.
Collaborate with Dragon engineering and supervision to coordinate shop floor activity including daily schedules and workflow
Perform related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, effective, and safe work environment
Assist with support, training, and allocation of the technician team according to individual strengths and skill set
Review work instructions and input process improvements to engineering to improve efficiency and reduce workmanship issues
Ensure individual technicians adhere to processes and instructions as documented in work orders and specifications
Ensure product quality and conformance to specifications
Assist in maintaining tooling and consumable supply inventory
Continuously look for opportunities for improving processes, equipment and work environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Ordnance certified with 1 year ordnance installation experience
A.R./S.C.B.A. Respirator certified with 1 year S.A.R. operation experience in potential hazardous environment
1 year of experience working in SCAPE with Dragon or spacecraft fueling (hypergolic)
A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, manuals and reports
Knowledge of pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices; mechanical and electrical systems
Ability to use precision measuring calibrated tools torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, ohm meter
Ability to perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing.
Certified and experienced "operator" with the following equipment: forklift, bridge crane, man lift, scissor lift
Ability to rapidly change responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
Must be willing to travel for short or extended periods
Must be able to climb ladders and work in tight spaces
Must be able to work at elevated heights (up to 300 feet)
Must be able to pass SCAPE medical qualifications and willing to perform operations in SCAPE
Must be comfortable being trained to work around hypergolic propellants (MMH and NTO)
Ability to work on offshore vessels for extended durations without access to emergency services normally available on shore
Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
Must be willing to work all hours and significant overtime as necessary
