The Lead Lab Assistant directs, and schedules lab functions for Mission Partners within the lab. They are responsible for the day to day activities of a medical office laboratory and collaborates with team members to meet patient needs. This position works with office leadership to evaluate the overall performance of lab assistant Mission Partner's towards the delivery of high quality patient care, assuring adherence to lab policies and procedures.
The Lead Lab Assistant will oversee and may perform specimen collection point of care testing, specimen storage and preparation of specimens for transport. They also perform administrative duties including Mission Partner assignments based on department needs and function as the point of escalation for questions and concerns. They lead by example, support the clinical and front office functions of the lab space, act as a liaison to the medical office, and are an advocate for their team and the patients they serve.
Completion of high school or its equivalent
Successful completion of OSF Phlebotomy class within 6 months of hire (if OSF Phlebotomy class has not been previously completed and/or does not have previous phlebotomy experience)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Associates Degree in healthcare related field
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
Minimum 2 year's working in phlebotomy
