This is brand new opening due to company growth and this person will be responsible for leading the development of web-based applications, while helping other team members enhance the web presence of the company. You'll also be expected to assist in communicating requirements to the team, while playing a technical mentor role, and assist the team with any technical problems they have, and direct them to proper solutions.

What You Need for this Position

  • Must have 7 or more years of experience using Java, JavaScript, HTML and CSS

  • Experience with object oriented programming

  • Ability to write cross-browser compatible code and have experience with Javascript, CSS, and HTML

  • Experience with XML data exchange and developing and deploying web services is desirable

Our Opportunity: We are looking for a seasoned senior Java Lead Developer to join the FI-FMS (Fixed Income-Fixed Messaging Service) team. This individual should have a passion for the user experience and leading-edge visualizations and interactions. The FI-FMS technology team develops and maintains Schwab Bond Source (SBS), Schwab's Fixed Income Trading system, Fix Messaging Service (FMS) and Trade correction (Jupiter) applications. SBS provides a comprehensive Fixed Income trading platform to Schwab's internal and external clients (schwab.com, Schwab Advisor Center) as well as external dealer and regulatory agency systems. FMS is the firm's FIX application, which provides trading venue connections, Advisory Service client connections to Schwab and regularity reporting. Jupiter is the firm's mass trade correction application. The team's mission is to provide a best in class trading experience to Schwab's internal and external clients. What you'll do: As a member of the development team you will participate in the design and implementation of web and standalone applications using Java / J2EE and modern technologies to support large, complex, mission critical trading applications. You will also participate in various software engineering projects using advanced development patterns and component-based architecture. You will actively collaborate with the team in ongoing development, including design, development, review, integration, test, and deployment activities. This includes, project, maintenance and production support activities. You must have the ability to be self-directed and able to work with an extended, remote team to deliver products in a timely manner. Finally, you should be comfortable in a fast-paced development environment that embraces the latest technologies and techniques, while focusing on providing the best experience for our business partners and clients. What you have: * 11+ years of experience in distributed systems development using Java/JEE. * Design and architect to meet functional requirements while ensuring aspects such as scalability, availability and fault tolerance are maintained. * Responsible for analyzing both business and system requirements to create high level and detailed design documents. * Able to apply emerging technologies to the software development process. * Provide technical leadership of onsite and offshore teams and implement system solutions that are consistent with strategic business and technical objectives. * Responsible for the quality of the code written by offshore team by ensuring proper design reviews, code reviews, unit testing and integration testing. * Strong background in integrating different technologies, distributed component development and knowledge of industry standard frameworks. * Able to work well with geographically diverse teams.Integration with different client channel presentation tiers, Schwab mainframe and external vendors. * This position requires advanced skills in technologies such as Java/JEE or Web Services or JMS or MQ or Servlets or JSP or Cocoon or JSF or JDBC or Web/Application servers (WebSphere) or XMLor XSLT or Oracle SQL or PL/SQL. * Experience with FIX messaging is preferred * Experience with Cameron FIX engine is preferred. * Experience on RESTFul and SOA based web services development using JEE technology. * Strong experience with AngularJS technologies * Experience with frameworks such as Spring or Hibernate and understanding of UML (Unified Modeling Language) and RUP (Rational Unified Process) is preferred. * Expert in object oriented analysis, SOA, design, development, implementation and maintenance. * Knowledge and experience in the financial services industry and more specifically with trading applications is preferred. * Candidate must be able to work directly with business partners to resolve ambiguities, finalize requirements and ensure technical deliverables meet business expectations. * Fixed Income trading knowledge is a plus. * knowledge of RTTM regulatory reporting systems is a plus. * Experience on Risk management systems like DSI with C++ API is a plus * Candidate should have good communication and written skills. * Must be a good team player and collaborative across organizations and geographic locations. * Self-motivated and able to take the initiative to resolve technical issues.
