Overview

The Lead Janitor is a key associate at Hope Network whose primary responsibilities includes: Acting as a working supervisor of staff in fulfilling service contracts that provide cleaning and maintenance services.

Duties are carried out in a variety of government operated buildings as well as Hope Network facilities throughout Grand Rapids on a rotating basis.Must have the ability to perform the Supervisor role in the event of absences. Responsible for a diverse scope of duties including general cleaning, grounds work, room preparation, and more.

This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. The employee is required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties as assigned. 1. Preparation of cleaning solutions according to specifications. 2.

Use of prepared solutions to provide general cleaning services including trash removal, cleaning of windows and glass partitions, dusting of furniture, walls, machines and equipment, and polishing of furniture and fixtures. Service, clean, and supply restrooms. 3. Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. 4.

Provide maintenance of building exterior by clearing debris from grounds, mowing and trimming lawns and shrubbery, and ensuring sidewalks, driveways and parking areas are clear of snow and ice. 5. Responsible for room preparation for events, meetings and banquets. This includes but is not limited to set up and removal of decorations, moving of heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as well as tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding. 6.

Identify and notify Site Supervisor of any necessary major repairs or additions to building operating systems, supplies and/or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. 7. Ensure cleanliness of building floors using a variety of methods including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, steam-clean or shampooing of carpets. May also provide non-routine maintenance of flooring including stripping, sealing, finishing and polishing of floors. 8.

Ability to work flexible schedules to cover for absences and provide project services to meet contract requirements. 9. Adhere to and follow all safety and policy requirements of Hope Network and abide by Contract rules and regulations.10. Perform administrative functions; payroll, document submittals,inspections and other administrative task functions, as needed.11. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position

1.For Lead Janitors assigned to only one site, a valid driver's license is preferred.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL/TALENT REQUIREMENT1. High School Diploma or GED.2. Prefer 1-2 years of experience in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and social economic backgrounds and cultures in a community work setting.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS1. Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in janitorial services with proven results required.2.

Ability to clear extensive background checks in order to work in a government facility.3. Background in environmentally friendly "green" cleaning strongly preferred. 4.

Previous experience in training program with a diverse population preferred.

The Janitor-Grand Rapids performs all tasks involved in maintaining a clean work environment; adhering to the Master Cleaning Schedule and practicing safe work habits. The Janitor works in all areas of the plant as needed Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Perform daily cleaning tasks per the Master Sanitation and Deep Cleaning Schedules, adhering to all Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions. * Clean all drains in the plant according to the Master Sanitation Schedule using the correct tools, PPE and cleaning chemicals. * Clean the locker rooms, restrooms and break rooms; emptying the trash and maintaining attention to detail. * Ensure soap dispenser and paper towels are fully stocked at all hand washing sinks/stations throughout the facility. * Properly maintain all assigned office and plant locations including corridors in a clean, neat and sanitary manner; mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash and running the floor scrubber. * Demonstrate safe and effective use of housekeeping and chemical equipment/solutions as observed by the supervisor. * Disinfect and sterilize equipment and utensils as needed, using the appropriate chemicals and equipment. * Take all appropriate and required precautions when disposing of trash and chemical containers. * Keep cart properly stocked with equipment and cleaning supplies; ensuring all chemicals are properly labeled and all equipment is in good working condition. * Operate forklifts and floor scrubbers as required; maintaining an operator's license, as appropriate. * Prepare lines for CIP; moving required chemicals and utensils to the area. * Accurately complete the necessary paperwork to ensure all documentation requirements are met. * Report any evidence of pests identified during routine cleaning tasks to the Supervisor. * Complete non-routine cleaning/sanitation tasks as assigned. Other Duties and Responsibilities: * May have contact with federal/state/regulatory inspectors on an annual basis. * Understand and adhere to all Quality Assurance policies, immediately reporting any potential food safety issues to management. * Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures. * This position requires the ability to work with dairy and nut products in addition to other related ingredients and allergens. * Safety Protocol * Stop any observed unsafe acts, and obey facility safety rules and procedures. * Correct or report any observed safety hazards. * Support safety policies and programs.
