Workforce Development and Job Skills Training Services are delivered with the belief that through employment, individuals can achieve meaning and identity, and establish their place as a contributing member of their community. The Workforce Development Team serves both job seekers and employers through a variety of services and resources, all focused on developing the employability skills needed in the 21st Century.
Individuals experiencing employment challenges are matched with a supportive case manager and participate in work readiness/soft skills training as well as real time paid transitional work and job placement services. Employers receive trained and pre-qualified candidates who are matched to their required skill sets and company culture.
The Lead Janitor is a key associate at Hope Network whose primary responsibilities includes: Acting as a working supervisor of staff in fulfilling service contracts that provide cleaning and maintenance services.
Duties are carried out in a variety of government operated buildings as well as Hope Network facilities throughout Grand Rapids on a rotating basis.Must have the ability to perform the Supervisor role in the event of absences. Responsible for a diverse scope of duties including general cleaning, grounds work, room preparation, and more.

Use of prepared solutions to provide general cleaning services including trash removal, cleaning of windows and glass partitions, dusting of furniture, walls, machines and equipment, and polishing of furniture and fixtures. Service, clean, and supply restrooms. 3. Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. 4.
Provide maintenance of building exterior by clearing debris from grounds, mowing and trimming lawns and shrubbery, and ensuring sidewalks, driveways and parking areas are clear of snow and ice. 5. Responsible for room preparation for events, meetings and banquets. This includes but is not limited to set up and removal of decorations, moving of heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as well as tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding. 6.
Identify and notify Site Supervisor of any necessary major repairs or additions to building operating systems, supplies and/or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. 7. Ensure cleanliness of building floors using a variety of methods including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, steam-clean or shampooing of carpets. May also provide non-routine maintenance of flooring including stripping, sealing, finishing and polishing of floors. 8.
Ability to work flexible schedules to cover for absences and provide project services to meet contract requirements. 9. Adhere to and follow all safety and policy requirements of Hope Network and abide by Contract rules and regulations.10. Perform administrative functions; payroll, document submittals,inspections and other administrative task functions, as needed.11. 1.For Lead Janitors assigned to only one site, a valid driver's license is preferred.
EDUCATIONAL/TALENT REQUIREMENT1. High School Diploma or GED.2. Prefer 1-2 years of experience in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and social economic backgrounds and cultures in a community work setting.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS1. Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in janitorial services with proven results required.2.
Ability to clear extensive background checks in order to work in a government facility.3. Background in environmentally friendly "green" cleaning strongly preferred. 4.
Previous experience in training program with a diverse population preferred.
