Amazon Corporate Security (ACS) mission is to provide a safe and secure workplace environment for all employees. To support the delivery of its mission, ACS is searching for an experienced professional who will lead the corporate Workplace Incident Management (WIM) investigation team, and support the Amazon Workplace Aggression Recognition, Reporting and Escalation (AWARE), prevention and threat management programs. This position reports directly to the Head of Workplace Incident Management.

The Lead WIM Investigator is responsible for managing and leading a team of WIM Investigators; managing day-to-day operations, providing mentoring, and ensuring baseline training requirements are achieved for each team member. The Lead WIM Investigator conducts threat assessments and investigations for incidents of workplace violence, harassment and personal safety concerns. The post holder is charged with developing, implementing and maintaining a workplace violence program, in line with the workplace incident management guide, utilizing liaison and engagement with stakeholders in the workplace, and developing a workplace violence program that includes measures and procedures to recognize, assess, control and monitor the risks identified in violence risk assessment. The Lead WIM Investigator will support the development of a workplace violence program that includes procedures for summoning immediate assistance when workplace violence occurs or is likely to occur, procedures for employees to report incidents of workplace violence to managers, HR representative, security or legal and a description of how workplace violence complaints will be investigated and managed. The post holder oversees, coordinates, collaborates, implements and monitors Amazon's WIM, AWARE, prevention and threat management programs within the corporate environment. Successful implementation includes reducing workplace violence risk factors in all settings and in all facilities with enterprise-wide, data-driven program measurement and reporting. The goal for this position is to contribute to a safe, secure, and respectful environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the WIM Investigator and Threat Assessment Team.

  • Contribute towards the development and implementation of the WIM Strategy.

  • Partner with multi-functional stakeholders - including but not limited to EHS, Occupational Health, Human Resources, Employee Relations, Legal, Benefits, Risk Management, other security teams, providers of the Emergency Assistance Program, and leaders at all levels - to identify risks across the full spectrum of violence (inclusive of disruptive behaviours) and to mitigate, manage, measure, monitor, and continuously improve our safety, security and health programs.

  • Build capabilities that deliver best practices for early risk identification, intervention, and implementation of response protocols to reduce workplace violence incidents and the severity of their impact; and contribute meaningfully to the quality and satisfaction of our customers.

  • Support the creation and oversee content and programming to support workplace violence prevention, imminent threat response, and the threat management efforts.

  • Dynamically assess the risk environment to identify the priority workplace violence risks to be mitigated, measured, and continuously monitored. Create controls and program governance to achieve shared understanding, priorities, and unity of effort across regions, facility types, and encounters.

  • Support the development of regional Workplace Violence Working Groups.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Workplace Violence, Imminent Threat, and workplace security programming.

  • Design, organize, and deliver effective awareness training and education to all levels of the company.

  • Support threat management processes by coordinating, planning and delivering Threat Assessment Team training for response teams

  • Effective program management will include creating and delivering policies, plans, training, screening, reporting, response, investigation, and continuous review / mitigation.

  • Measure program effectiveness by developing key performance indicators and relevant measures of success that dynamically indicate opportunities to improve the program or supporting processes. Create executive reports - narrative and graphic - to inform, educate, and gain additional guidance or decisions. Build business cases to acquire additional resources, if applicable.

  • Create repeatable yet agile processes to effectively respond to immediate and emerging threat management and member care gaps/service recovery needs at any level, any Corporate facility type, at any time, at any location across the enterprise

  • Contribute towards the development of policies and procedures to prevent violence and manage threats in the workplace.

  • Coordinate time sensitive consultations with external thought partners for violence risk assessments

  • Ensure Amazon is compliant with all legal requirements pertaining to Workplace Violence.
