Job Summary:

Avionics Technicians generally work on the communication, navigation, and surveillance systems and the electrical generating components that power these systems. They install, inspect, test, and repair the avionics equipment and electronics, including communication and navigation radios, transponder and DME systems, weather radar equipment, autopilot systems and troubleshoot and diagnose these systems to LRU or component level.

Core Schedule:

  • Days: Monday thru Friday

  • Hours: 8:00 am

  • 5:00 pm
  • Some on call or evening/weekend hours may be required.

Compensation:

  • Starting hourly rate of $25.00 - $45.00 / hour depending on experience.

  • Overtime pay for all hours over 40 hours per week.

Day in the Life:

  • Inform the company of unsafe conditions when noted.

  • Perform preliminary inspections.

  • Assist, supervise, and direct all personnel assigned to the inspection department.

  • Ensure inspections are properly performed on all completed work and that the correct inspection records, reports, and forms used by the repair station are properly executed prior to releasing the product for return to service.

  • Maintain currency of inspection department library of FAR's, Type Certification Data Sheets, and Airworthiness Directives.

  • Maintain currency of technical data for all articles overhauled or repaired by the repair station. This includes, but not limited to: manufacturer's overhaul manuals, service bulletins, parts specifications, related Federal Aviation Administration approved data and other technical data used by the repair station. Ensure also that all military technical orders used in the overhaul and repair of aircraft or components, have been evaluated and approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.

  • Ensure periodic checks are made on all applicable inspection tools and the calibration of precision test equipment used by the repair station, including those personally owned by employed technicians. A current record of these certifications shall be maintained in the technical library.

  • Ensure proper execution of FAA Form 337, when required.

  • Responsible for the final acceptance of all incoming materials, including, but not limited to, new parts, serviceable components, hardware, supplies and airworthiness determination of articles on which work has been performed by approved vendors.

  • Conduct or coordinate with crew chiefs to carry out the preliminary, hidden damage, in-progress, and final inspection of all articles processed by the repair station and record results as outlined in this manual.

  • Oversee the proper tagging and identification of all parts and components as outlined in this manual.

  • Provide for continuity of inspection responsibility, ensuring completion of required inspection when personnel shift or assignment changes occur.

  • Ensure that certificated supervisors overseeing work are thoroughly familiar with the necessary inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools.

  • Ensure that rejected and unserviceable parts are appropriately identified (Red Tagged) and segregated from serviceable parts.

  • Ensure that all inspections, maintenance records, reports, and forms are properly accomplished on completed work before it is approved for return to service.

  • Inspect all avionics work that requires the qualification of an A & P maintenance technician, such as airframe structure modification, electrical wiring, and weight and balance changes.

  • Maintain the manuals in current revision status and initiate revisions, as required.

  • Initiate (open) a repair station work order.

What will make you successful:

  • A&P License is required.

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years' experience with diversified jet, turboprop, piston, modification, aircraft/flight maintenance or airframe sheet metal maintenance. Must have experience in MROs.

  • Operates all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignments.

  • Preferred experience in a customer service facility performing inspections and repair of aircraft.

  • Valid state driver's license

  • Requires use of arithmetic, blueprints, and specifications plus knowledge of jet and piston airframe and engine principles

  • Flexibility in scheduling required.

  • Some travel required.

  • Must successfully pass background check and drug test.

  • Ability to read and respond to E-Mail communications.
