Primary Purpose:
Responsible for leading staff; maintaining, repairing, and installing heating and air conditioning systems and equipment throughout the district.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver's license
Current EPA approved Type I and Type II refrigerant certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
Knowledge of HVAC (DDC) Direct Digital Control Systems
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, diagnose, and resolve problems
Ability to use computer with DDC, hand, and power tools
Experience:
Five years' experience as HVAC technician
Four years' experience as HVAC Supervisor/Lead/Forman
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair
Lead/guide/direct/oversee HVAC staff and equipment to insure proper maintenance, repair and installation of all CISD HVAC systems.
Diagnose and repair malfunctions, or calibrate DDC controls in various types of heating and air conditioning systems, including rooftop equipment and chillers systems.
Inspect, schedule, and perform all needed repairs, preventative maintenance and replacement of equipment, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.
Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coils.
Maintain accurate records on all materials, labor, and Freon dispensing records to meet federal requirements.
Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and piping according to specifications and code.
Perform duct cleaning and air quality testing as needed.
Assist energy manager for cost-effective use of HVAC energy.
Create, receive and complete all HVAC related work orders.
Select material and hardware, and make time and materials estimates.
Maintain HVAC inventory of district-owned vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials.
Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
Respond to emergency calls and after hour's calls as needed.
Safety
Perform preventive maintenance on trucks, tools, and equipment.
Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
