Responsibilities

As the lead Human Resources consultant for Principal International and Principal Global Services, you will solve organizational challenges through people-related solutions and serve as an integral member of the business's senior and/or executive leadership team to understand every aspect of the business. As a thought leader on human capital and organizational topics, you'll leverage this knowledge to create and implement the end-to-end human capital strategy driving the business to meet its goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required and 10+ years related work experience required.

  • Experience in large global financial services organizations strongly preferred but not required.

  • Experience consulting with business partners on people-related strategies/programs.

  • Experience in directly managing/influencing teams of people.

  • Experience managing the HR function for Latin America locations, preferably Mexico, Chile, Brazil Leadership experience working as an HR Director or equivalent in support of leaders at a global company(s).

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to translate vision into action, manage multiple priorities, improve operations, and maintain positive and productive relationships while delivering results

  • Strategic vision, with the ability to see where the business is headed, define opportunities, develop programs proactively, and to look across the HR function and the company to determine intersections and hand-offs.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to break down complex concepts and clearly explain them to people in a variety of roles, and to bring people along and drive change throughout the organization.

  • Skill as a business leader who is respected for your understanding of the business and willing to contribute outside of your role.

  • The ability to consider multiple audiences, manage concurrent projects, and prioritize work according to strategic goals while meeting requirements and deadlines with a positive attitude.

  • A proven ability to work effectively and creatively with limited resources and function well in a fast-paced environment.

  • A willingness to take risks and experiment with new ideas and technologies.

  • Effective consulting and coaching skills, with the ability to build relationships with senior leaders and a complex set of stakeholders to drive organizational change.

  • Domestic and International business travel 10-20% is required.

Location

This position is open to locations across the United States including the ability to work from home based on qualifications, experience, and skillset. If located outside of Des Moines, IA, significant travel to Des Moines would be a part of this role.

The selected candidate will be welcomed into a team aligned to support a diverse employee workforce of varying levels, both exempt and non-exempt, in fields of Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, Business, Finance and Supply Chain. The incumbent will be the focal point to consult on and assist in the implementation of HR strategy, programs and policies across multiple client groups; including talent acquisition, new employee onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation, reward and recognition, employee engagement and retention initiatives, succession planning, organization and staff development, leadership/bench strength development, staffing, EEO and other areas within the HR body of knowledge. The implementation of these programs will be through proficient leadership and project management skills and close collaboration with HR subject matter experts. In addition, the selected candidate will be responsible for project management of HR projects, and must demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, implement, and close multiple projects simultaneously on various topics within HR work streams. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate leadership and relationship building skills, a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Skillful verbal and written communication talents are required and the ideal candidate will have prior success building or enhancing a collaborative, supportive and understanding work environment. The incumbent will have an understanding of how to successful navigate in a matrix organization and proactively identify information and resources to resolve various inquiries and situations. The successful candidate will demonstrate how they have supported their prior teams through organization, self-motivation and task ownership skills, with the ability to accomplish complex duties in a high-impact, fast-paced, and time sensitive environment.
