Responsibilities

As the lead Human Resources consultant for Principal International and Principal Global Services, you will solve organizational challenges through people-related solutions and serve as an integral member of the business's senior and/or executive leadership team to understand every aspect of the business. As a thought leader on human capital and organizational topics, you'll leverage this knowledge to create and implement the end-to-end human capital strategy driving the business to meet its goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required and 10+ years related work experience required.

  • Experience in large global financial services organizations strongly preferred but not required.

  • Experience consulting with business partners on people-related strategies/programs.

  • Experience in directly managing/influencing teams of people.

  • Experience managing the HR function for Latin America locations, preferably Mexico, Chile, Brazil Leadership experience working as an HR Director or equivalent in support of leaders at a global company(s).

  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to translate vision into action, manage multiple priorities, improve operations, and maintain positive and productive relationships while delivering results

  • Strategic vision, with the ability to see where the business is headed, define opportunities, develop programs proactively, and to look across the HR function and the company to determine intersections and hand-offs.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to break down complex concepts and clearly explain them to people in a variety of roles, and to bring people along and drive change throughout the organization.

  • Skill as a business leader who is respected for your understanding of the business and willing to contribute outside of your role.

  • The ability to consider multiple audiences, manage concurrent projects, and prioritize work according to strategic goals while meeting requirements and deadlines with a positive attitude.

  • A proven ability to work effectively and creatively with limited resources and function well in a fast-paced environment.

  • A willingness to take risks and experiment with new ideas and technologies.

  • Effective consulting and coaching skills, with the ability to build relationships with senior leaders and a complex set of stakeholders to drive organizational change.

  • Domestic and International business travel 10-20% is required.

Location

This position is open to locations across the United States including the ability to work from home based on qualifications, experience, and skillset. If located outside of Des Moines, IA, significant travel to Des Moines would be a part of this role.

Within this highly strategic role, the incumbent will serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert to Bank officers and management on the implementation, integration and execution of Bank and human resource strategy. He/she will act as a single point of contact in the business units to drive human resource related action, decision-making and change. He/she will also act as a liaison between business units and the HR Centers of Expertise. Job Duties and Responsibilities * Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources, supports the most complex business units to be agile in anticipating and responding to changing business needs * Utilizes HR subject matter expertise to support clients in the development and execution of solutions that drive outcomes in support of effective human capital/workforce planning, talent acquisition/recruitment, talent management, organizational development, diversity and inclusion, performance management, compensation, and complex employee relations resolution. * Acts as a change agent and employee champion when managing talent-related organizational and/or departmental changes * Manages complex HR projects and develops strategies to implement solutions for the Bank, including assigned business units * Facilitates the human capital planning process with assigned business units in the development and execution of plans to address gaps between current and desired future state * Ensures the integration of business strategy and human capital plans; uses data to report and influence progress and drive change in support of the business unit's human capital needs * Partners with HR Centers of Expertise to implement Bank and business unit initiatives and services * Mentors lesser-experienced business partners * Stays in sync with business happenings by attending staff meetings and being visible in operations. * Builds partnerships with management by identifying human resource solution that support the current and future needs of the business. * Works with management, peers and other HR colleagues to ensure consistency across the organization relating to policies and\or practices. Develop, recommended and coordinate activities, functions or programs designed to increase employee retention and satisfaction. * Provides management coaching/counseling and career development advice for employees when needed.
