As a Lead Housekeeper you wil maintain clean, sanitary and orderly condition to the assigned exterior/ interior areas of the Medical Center.
Demonstrate good judgment and organizational skills in delegating assignments and prioritizing assignments.
Demonstrate ability to oversee and work with staff performing project work (stripping/refinishing, shampooing, etc.)
Act in a lead capacity on weekends and holidays. This includes leading the shift, making sure job assignments are fulfilled and reporting any disciplinary problems that arise during the course of the shift to the appropriate supervisor at home, if necessary.
Keep storage/supply room well stocked with supplies, keep inventory of equipment and supplies and report to the supervisor when ordering needs to be done.
Notify, immediately, the Director or Associate Director of any safety or serious personnel situations.
Inspect and maintain equipment for cleanliness and make sure that equipment is working properly and running safely.
Oversees and participates in moving equipment, supplies, office furniture, boxes, etc. Must adhere to proper body mechanics.
Must have valid driver's license in order to operate hospital van to move equipment or supplies from one location to another.
Assist supervisor in orientation and training of new staff.
Must be familiar with all environmental service cleaning chemicals and their proper dilutions, as per manufacturer's recommendations.
Responsible for washing of soiled mops and cubicle curtains. Must maintain and clean daily, the dryer lint trap, as well as wipe down outside of washer and dryer.
Knowledge of patient room cleaning, as well as discharge cleaning and cycle cleaning.
Receives and stores daily supplies delivered.
Responsible for moving and storing of extra beds found throughout the units, as well as finding a bed for an area in need of one.
Responsible for picking up full sharp containers in between weekly service. Must know proper storage of full containers.
Responsible for removal and hanging of cubicle curtains, when necessary.
Must be flexible in assuming required assignments and able to show good judgment and initiative.
Physical Demands: Ability to fill and dump 3 - 5 gallon pails filled with water (weighing up to 25 pounds). Ability to move cleaning cart on wheels (filled with supplies - weighing up to 100 pounds). Ability to step up on a safety stool 2 - 4 steps. Ability to lift hands over head to hang and take down cubicle curtains (weighing up to 20 pounds), wash ceilings, walls and high windows. Ability to move patient furniture (weighing 300 - 500 pounds). Requires continuous moving, lifting and bending (for 7 1/2 hours shifts). Ability to cover a shift assignment when staffing is inadequate. Must be able to communicate face-to-face and by telephone.
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Environmental Services experience in a hospital setting, required.
Possess effective communication and customer service skills, required.
Must be able to utilize independent judgment, trouble-shooting abilities and have good organization skills, required.
