Description:
Come join the Plant and Operations team at Saint Mary's Hospital, part of Trinity Health Of New England! We are a member of the nationwide Trinity Health family, bringing compassionate care to our communities.
Position Purpose:
Supervises the maintenance of the hospital campus grounds including snow removal, service of vehicles and grounds equipment to assure a safe and pleasant environment.
What you will do:
Supervises and performs duties to maintain hospital campus in a safe and pleasant condition. Mows and trims grass to proper seasonal height and properly dispose of yard wastes.
Maintains flowerbeds, and trims trees and shrubs as necessary.
Keeps roads, walks and parking lots free of ice and snow in winter season utilizing snow team and outside contractors as necessary.
Keeps essential access to hospital services such as the emergency department open to the public.
Responds immediately to emergency calls and accomplishes projects on a timely basis.
Assists other trades when requested by the engineering supervisor.
Performs snow crew on call duties as scheduled.
Responds to emergency calls as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Position requires a hoisting, and a pesticide license or license(s) must be obtained within six (6) months of hire into position.
Requires the ability to resolve simple problems involving math and technical skills.
Requires the ability to respond to simple written or verbal instructions.
Occasional contact with patients, visitors and staff which requires tact and courtesy.
Physical Demands
Requires lifting objects up to fifty lbs. on a daily basis.
Requires prolonged walking and standing at least 50% of the time.
Requires bending and stooping.
Requires the ability to reach and grasp objects.
Requires working with equipment in which pose a moderate potential occupational hazard where carelessness could result in cuts, bruises, strains and exposure to toxic pesticides that require the use of personal protective equipment and proper safety procedures.
Occasional exposure to eye and ear hazards requiring protective equipment.
