The Lead Food Service Aide may work in any type of food location on the premises. This successful candidate will coordinate the activities of workers and /or service employees engaged in food service in general kitchen, food prep, production, catering and patient operations. The general responsibilities of the position include those below, but hospital / department may identify other responsibilities of the position as needed.
Understands and follows all Hospital and Department policies and procedures.
Assists in ensuring a safe work environment throughout the facility for employees.
Assists in monitoring employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service or productivity.
Ensures adequate staffing on a day to day basis, adjust accordingly.
May assists in employee scheduling and staffing.
Responsible for day to day activities of subordinates and assigns responsibility for specific work or functional activities with assistance of onsite management /supervisor team.
Coordinates activities of workers and service employees engaged in food operations in any of the following areas: general kitchen, food prep, production, catering and patient services.
Performs day to day assignments in addition to supervision as assigned by management /supervisor team.
Responsible for orientation and training of employees.
Works with customers to ensure satisfaction in such areas of quality, service and problem resolution.
Assists with service recovery and problem resolution, reports issues and concerns to management.
Interacts with visitors, guests, patients and co-workers involved directly or indirectly with general kitchen operations and service.
May assist in cash functions such as cash outs, cash handling, counting and closing of POS /register systems.
Surveys and checks for proper operation of food service equipment and tools, takes necessary corrective action to resolve issues.
Inventories assigned areas, assists in re-stocking and assigning re-stocking and rotating duties to subordinates.
Checks temperatures of food (hot and cold) at the beginning, middle and end of service.
Maintains key control of operations and responsible for activities to ensure opening, closing and daily procedures are completed.
May maintain temperature, refrigeration, waste and sanitation logs as assigned.
Takes an interest and initiative in the development of the food service team.
Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.
Complies with all Hospital /Department HACCP policies and procedures.
Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
May visit and round in patient units to ensure patient a nursing satisfaction.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Cooperatively adapts to changes, especially crisis situations, such as shorthanded staff, mechanical failures and disasters
